JAKE AND VICKY'S COTTAGE/EVENING
VICKY is sitting on the couch, going through pictures. JAKE and
KIRKLAND come downstairs. Jake is throwing Kirkland up in the
air.
KIRKLAND
Mom, are you going to come watch us play football outside?
JAKE
Yeah, come on, Mom.
VICKY
Maybe later, sweetie.
JAKE
What are you up to?
VICKY
I decided to put together a scrapbook for the twins. You know,
old pictures, mementos, stuff like that.
JAKE
That's a great idea.
VICKY
Yeah, I'm looking for old pictures of us, and the family. I came
across this photo of Michael and Donna.
JAKE
I'm sorry, honey.
VICKY
They were so in love, you know?
Kirkland begins looking at a picture of Reginald.
JAKE
I know.
Jake kisses Vicky and hugs her.
KIRKLAND
Mom, who's this?
Vicky takes the picture from Kirkland.
VICKY
That's your Grandpa Reginald. He passed away before you were
born.
KIRKLAND
That's the man I saw at the hospital.
JAKE
What?
KIRKLAND
The one who gave me the flowers for Mom.
VICKY
No, honey, it couldn't have been him. It must have been someone
who just looked like him.
KIRKLAND
He looked exactly like him - like twins.
VICKY
(Feeling uneasy)
Twins, huh? Well, listen, don't you guys have a game to play?
KIRKLAND
Yeah, Jake, come on.
JAKE
Okay, go on outside, Sport. I'll be right there.
Kirkland goes outside.
JAKE(cont'd)
Vick, you don't think --
VICKY
No, of course not. Reginald's dead. I don't know who Kirkland
saw, but it couldn't have been him.
She puts the picture away as we:
FADE OUT
CORY MANSION/SAME EVENING
CARL and RACHEL are sitting on couch.
CARL
Maybe Amanda's right. I should move out.
RACHEL
No.
CARL
Just until this is over. Rachel, I don't want to put you in any
more danger.
RACHEL
Carl, I'm your wife - for better or worse.
CARL
As long as this psychopath is after me, you're not safe and
neither are the twins, or your other children.
RACHEL
Then I guess we need to find the psychopath, huh?
CARL
I was thinking about the flowers. Did you notice Amanda's
reaction?
RACHEL
She was hardly sympathetic.
CARL
She was happy. You don't think that Amanda could have sent them,
do you?
RACHEL
Amanda? No. She may be angry right now, but she's not crazy,
Carl.
CARL
I hope you're right.
RACHEL
I am right. Put that idea out of your mind.
CARL
Of course. I'm being silly.
As he kisses Rachel, we:
FADE OUT
JOE AND PAULINA'S HOUSE/SAME EVENING
JOE and PAULINA walk into the house, putting the house plans
they're carrying onto the couch, in the middle of a conversation.
JOE
I just meant you didn't have to mention it.
PAULINA
What's the big deal? We heard something and I thought Jake and
Vicky might know what it was.
JOE
It was the wind, Paulina, that's all.
PAULINA
Yeah, right. Who are you kidding, Joe?
JOE
That's the only reasonable explanation.
PAULINA
Maybe there isn't a reasonable explanation.
JOE
Paulina --
PAULINA
Ok, how do you explain the woman?
JOE
She was just lost.
PAULINA
She was running into the woods, Joe. Then she just disappears?
Come on, something's not right.
JOE
What are you saying?
PAULINA
(Humming Twilight Zone music and smiling)
I think something strange is going on, Captain.
JOE
And I think it's all in your head. (He kisses her) There are no
such things as ghosts.
As they laugh, we:
FADE OUT
THE LAKE/SAME EVENING
Sean pulls a small bag of what looks like grass out of his
backpack.
SEAN
If you want to feel better, I have something that might help.
ALLI
What is that?
SEAN
Pot. Have you ever tried it?
ALLI
No. I always stay away from that stuff.
SEAN
Look, as long as you don't abuse it, pot really isn't dangerous.
It just makes you feel better.
ALLI
That's what everyone says.
SEAN
It's true. One joint and you'll forget that you have a care in
the world.
ALLI
Can I try?
Sean hands the bag to Alli.
SEAN
I promise you, Alli...you'll feel a lot better.
As Alli begins to open the bag, we:
