Yesterday was
a really bad day for fandom.
Tripod, owned and operated by Lycos, deleted hundreds of fandom (mostly
fanfiction) related sites off
of their servers wihtout any warning to the site owners. Hundreds of stories
and pictures and creative efforts have been lost (including creekcentral,
which was hosted there, but has always been mirrored and always been on
redirect through namesecure. In that respect, I have been lucky. Far luckier
than most of the people who have lost their sites to this purge.
If you have a site that was linked from here and was deleted, please email me ASAP with your new site information and I will update your listing immediately. Also, go check out this anti-Tripod site and ask them to add your name to the list of sites that have fallen. This crap should really not be taken taken lying down.
Wow. Great
sites are dropping like flies lately, huh... Sad, that. But at least there
are always new sites to find rising like phoenixes from the ashes. Huge
updates... a big site has died and new sites have popped up in its place.
More sites more sites more sites... but still, no one loves Drue Valentine
enough to hook the poor dude up with a site. Come on, someone has to be
first... someone be first.
A quick note: About once a week, I get emails from people wondering about the font I've used for the logo and interface elements of this site. Here's the deal: I don't have the "official" font, and to be honest, I don't think that it exists. To create the Creek Central logo, I used the letters in "Dawson's Creek," selected them each in Adobe PhotoShop and rearranged them to say "Creek Cen ra ". Then, using the "K", I created both the "L" and the "T". The other font used on this page is "DonnysHand," which I downloaded from ArtToday.com. I hope that this is helpful to anyone who wants these fonts.
November 21, 2000 I've been up and running for only three days and already The Official DC Site has honored me with "Fan Site of the Week," I'm pretty damn stoked, I have to say. Thanks, official people!!!!
