The Friendship of Three

by Tammy

Dawson was lying on his bed
Dreaming of the one girl he can't get out of his head.
Dreaming of how things use to be
Before she sailed away with Pacey.

He tells everyone that they are just friends but oh, how he lies
Because he still loves her no matter what he tries.
Joey was sitting out on the dock
Wishing that she could turn back the clock,

Back to a time when all things were simple.
While she was listening to the water ripple
She was looking across the creek towards Dawson's window,
Thinking how nice it would be to climb through it, lay on the bed and watch a video.

But there was Pacey to think about
And he wouldn't like it, he would just shout.
How did she get here to this place?
Stuck between two friends, what a disgrace!

Pacey sat on the back porch watching the waves
Thinking back to the good old days
When he and Joey were livin' on the boat
With nothing to do or think about, just float.

They would lay in their hammocks and read to each other
Back before they became lovers.
Now they are all back in Capeside about to graduate
Having their futures to contemplate.

Pacey thought to himself," We need a party!"
To commemorate all of our departing
From this place we all call home,
Into the world of the great unknown.

And I need to make amends
With the one guy who I call best friend.
We have always been "The Three Musketeers"
Through laughter and even tears.

I will make sure this will not change
For I will not let us be estranged.
We all have a place in each others heart
And our bonds, no one can part.

We will grow up and move on with our lives
But for this friendship I will always strive
To stay connected to each other
Because man, you are like my brother.
