Amazon.com ![]() | The Bircage revolves around the blossoming love of two young Gen-Xers: Barbara Keeley (Calista Flockhart), daughter of Kevin Keeley; racist senator of Ohio, and Val Goldman, son of a gay male couple. Since their parents are complete opposites, the couple figures that they won't get along or agree with eachother very well, so Barabara takes it upon herself to give the Val's parents a whole new identity - an identity that is far, far different from their real occupations as a drag star and a drag club owner. Later, the stories become mangled, and the lies become harder to cover up, ending up with very humorous results.
I thought that this movie was pretty good... well, Calista was good in it! While some of the skits and events were funny (Nathan Lane and Hank Azaria could have me laughing sometimes), I felt that some of the jokes were worn. The plot wasn't all that good, either. It was an interesting movie, (and you get to see Gene Hackman in drag! YIKES!) that was pretty funny... but in some cases it was really lame and tiring. |
