Bash -- more news below.

Bash gives fans a different view of Flockhart
According to those who saw the first showing of the off-Boradway play Bash, it was a chilling experience, where Calista Flockhart portrayed a teen who gave birth to her teacher's baby and later killed it. Many viewers were so shocked at the dark themes and acts of the play that they walked out of the Douglas Fairbanks theatre before the play's end. One man even angrily stated: "I'm a pediatrician and a father--why should I spend 45 minutes listening to this?" Who knows what other comments may derive from this play where such a well-known happy actress stars as a dark, mean woman. They may be positive, and Flockhart will be commended for her excellent acting ability, or it may inspire a backlash as avid fans may be expecting more along the lines of an Ally McBealish performance. Only time will tell.
Rosie and Letterman also cancelled!
Fans expected it could happen after the abrupt news of the Today cancellation, and some still can't believe that Calista Flockhart cancelled her appearances on three different talk shows in a two-day span. Flockhart, who was scheduled on "Today" (Monday, May 3rd), "Late Show with David Letterman" (Monday, May 3rd), and "The Rosie O'Donnell Show" (Tuesday, May 4th) to promote her up-and-coming movie A Midsummer Night's Dream, cancelled all three interviews a few mere days before each one. Some believe that Flockhart has cancelled all interviews so they can be done the week of May 9-15, as Midsummer's release date was pushed back to the 14th, instead of this Friday (the 7th). However, until anything has been stated so online or otherwise, there is no conclusive evidence that Ms. Flockhart will be appearing on any of these shows in the near future.
Has Jane Doe been Found?
Calista's long-shelved movie, Jane Doe (aka Pictures of Baby Jane Doe), has recently been released - but only to video rental stores. Jane Doe which has been put on the shelf since 1996, didn't get the best reviews, mainly from TV Guide Online.
"The Offbeat 1996 film is billed as a romantic thriller; it is neither," Jonathan Reiner states. "Flockhart plays the title character who hooks up with an annoying young writer. Together, they recite meandering dialogue so dense that it makes Dawson's Creek look like The Teletubbies." Reiner continues, saying, "The film is supposed to be "artsy", but it plays as amateurish and pointless."
Ouch. This webmaster hasn't seen the film himself yet - but will write a review once done so. Don't plan on buying this film... the most inexpensive rate (according to amazon.com) is still over a whopping forty dollars. Double Ouch. Of course, if you are interested in purchasing Jane Doe today, you can browse through different versions of the film here. Note that later this summer the film may be released to the public and priced to own, although this hasn't been confirmed.

Calista Cancels Appearance on "Today"
Calista Flockhart, who was scheduled to appear on "Today" Monday, May 3rd, canceled her interview when "Today" refused to nix questions regarding Flockhart's weight. Flockhart, who is releasing her movie A Midsummer Night's Dream May 14th, scheduled the interview, as well as others, to promote her film. When Flockhart's representatives stated that "Today" was not to inquire questions about Flockharts weight, "Today" did not agree, and the interview was nixed. However, Flockhart is scheduled to appear on the "Late Show with David Letterman" Monday, May 3rd, and "The Rosie O'Donnell Show" Tuesday, May 4th.
Midsummer Delayed?
Many hardcore Calista Flockhart fans have been, and still are waiting for the release of A Midsummer Night's Dream which was aimed to be released May 7th. It wasn't found out until recently that the date has been changed. According to the official A Midsummer Night's Dream Page located at foxsearchlight.com it now states that the movie is being released May 14th, despite the site's prior claims of a May 7th release date. No-one I have spoken to has any information as to why the release date was postponed, but some have a strong feeling that it was moved to May 14th to perhaps draw movie-goers from Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, a movie that is being released on the same date. I have just e-mailed Fox on the issue, and if I get a reply with some information, I will post it.
