Later that night the surprise party was about over. Jason was the only one left at the house. He and Sonny are sitting in the living room talking.
J: "I told you Jessi was a great kid. She adores you."
S: "So you think so? I know I think the world of her."
Brenda walks into the room. She had just checked up on Jessi who had fallen asleep in Brenda's bed while watching a movie with all the other kids at the party. She was so peaceful lying there that Brenda left her there.
B: "She definitely adores you, Sonny."
They both turn to Brenda.
B: "Can't you tell just by the way she looks at you? You'd think you were a king by the way she looks at you."
S: Dimples flashing, smirkingly he says, "Oh really? A king huh? I'll have to remember that one."
B: exasperated, but kind of liking his teasing her, "Soooony."
S: Gets up and wraps his arms around Brenda from behind. He rests his chin on her shoulder. "No really, I do see it but it scares the hell out of me every time I see that loving adoring look in her eyes. I'm afraid I'm dreaming. There's no way this perfect little girl could love me. I don't deserve it, but there she is contradicting everything I believe about myself."
B: With a few tears in her eyes. "Sonny don't believe that. You have every right to be loved by your daughter. You can't stop her from loving you. She loves so freely, don't ever shut that out."
S: "I don't ever intend to, Brenda, it just amazes me so much."
B: "She is amazing, isn't she?"
Jason clears his throat. Obviously he's been long forgotten by now.
J: "I'll think I'll leave you two alone, now."
B: "Are you sure it's safe to go back to you apartment yet?"
J: "Yeah. Thanks for letting me stay here."
B: "No problem."
Jason leaves.
S: "It's probably about time I got going too."
B: Turns around in his arms so she is looking into his eyes. "Where do you think you're going?"
S: "Well my stuff is at the apartment above Luke's"
B: "What's it doing there and not here?"
S: Dimples. "You want me to stay here?"
B: "Of course I do. We're still married, if you remember."
S: "Oh I remember. It's just that you weren't exactly talking to me so I had my stuff put above Luke's"
B: "You can get your things in the morning. You're staying here tonight." She inches closer to his face.
S: Dimples are really flashing now. "I'm not?" He answers mockingly. She smiles and shakes his head no as he takes his hands from around her waist and cradles her face in them. He whispers, " I love you" before pulling her face to his for a passionate kiss. It was gentle and tender at first, but it grew more intense as it continued. Brenda felt more alive then she had in years. As his sweet, fiery kiss burned her mouth, her heart filled with happiness. She didn't want this feeling to end. Neither of them did. They had ten years to bake up. Finally they both broke away breathless.
S: Pulla her close to him Whispered in her ears. "I've waited a long time to do that, baby. It was better than any kiss I can remember."
B: "It was better than any I can remember too, honey." She starts to cry a little. "Sonny do you know how much it tore me apart when I realized I was never going to feel your lips on mine, or how your body felt against mine, or the way I feel when you look at me that certain way again?"
S: "I know, baby, I know. I felt the same way. Shhhh. It's okay. I'm not going anywhere." He wiped the tears from her face and held her close until she stopped crying.>
B: When she finally stopped crying she looked at Sonny. "I love you, you know."
S: "I know" and he pulled her into another passionate, soul burning kiss.
They broke away, breathless again. Brenda pulled away and started up the stairs.
S: "Hey, baby where are you going?"
B: Turrns around. "I'm going to sleep. Care to join me?"
S: "Just sleep?"
B: "Sorry, honey but just sleep. At least for tonight. I don't have the heart to move Jessi from my bed."
S: "Sleep will have to do, because I'm not leaving your side." He follows her up the stairs.

A little while later, the three of them are in bed. Brenda has her arms wrapped around a sleeping Jessi. Sonny has his arms wrapped around both of them. That's the way they stay. Their first night together as a family at home.
