Lucille Ball was a major achiever. She entered every heart in America. She was loved by the world. For I Love Lucy alone she recieved 20 emmy nominations. She had a career span of over 50 hard working years. She filmed 180 episodes of I Love Lucy, plus the 13 hour long episodes. After that she made 4 more television series. She had made 79 movies and was very involved with charity work. She entered the hall of fame and now has her own museum, The Lucy-Desi Museum.
Lucille Desiree Ball Arnaz was born in the city of Jamestown, New York on August 6, 1911. She was an only child the first four years of her life. She wasn't the prissy type, her father had turned her into a tom-boy. Being a stunt girl and hving the courage of a tiger came from the days with her father when they used to play.
As a small child Lucy lived in Buttle, Montana for two years starting in the fall of 1911. Her father died at age 28 of typoid fever. Lucy was five when it happened. Her mother then had financial problems. She then re-married to a man named Edward. Lucy then moved in with her grandmother Peterson for two years.
As a child, Lucy's favorite place to play was Celron Amusement Park. And in highschool she got a job there to sell food. In highschool she played football and basketball. She always tried to get away from home, always heading for New York City. She later went to dramatic school when after a short time her mother was told that she was wasting her money. That Lucy couldn't act, talk, walk, sing, or dance.
Lucille then became a model and was a poster girl for Chesterfeild cigarettes. She turned from poster girl to actress in her first film Roman Scandals. And then she was put in more movies. In 1940, Lucille met a man named Desi Arnaz while doing the film, Too Many Girls. They were married on November 30, 1940 in Greenwich Connecticut.
Desi short for Desiderio was a Cuban bandleader. He was born in Cuba on March 2, 1917. He was 69 when he died in 1986.Their first home together was Chatsworth. Both of them worked hard to make the home of their dreams. She spent all of her spare time making the ranch homy and cozy. Desi took care of the crops and built a masiue grill that reminded him of Cuba.
Later they moved to Beverly Hills because of a kidnapping threat in Chatsworth. They were also closer to the I Love Lucy set. One of the most classic and popular shows of all time. It aired for six years strait and remained at the top of the charts the whole time.
After filing for a divorce 2 times, Lucy finally went through with it. She left Desi with two kids, Lucie Arnaz and Desi Arnaz Jr. Around for months after this Lucy re-marriedGary Morton, a stand up comic. 29 years later, still married to Gary Lucy passed away of heart trouble on April 26, 1989. A tradgedy never to forget. Some think she's old these days and forget about her great talent. But many think she is still alive in spirit.
