Filmmaker Objects to NC-17 Rating. The Associated Press
LOS ANGELES (AP) --
The movie ``Orgazmo,'' a satire about the adultfilm
industry, has been tagged NC-17, leaving the creator worried it
can'tlive up
to the racy rating.
The movie contains
no explicit sex scenes and only fleeting shots ofnudity,
including the rear-ends of a naked mariachi band.
``It's going to put
a false expectation on this movie,'' said thedirector and
star, Trey Parker. ``If I had set out to make a raunchy movie, I
would have made a muchraunchie movie,'' he said. ``We're not
trying to arouse anybody here. We're nottrying make you go out
and rape and kill. We're just trying to make youlaugh.''
The NC-17 rating from the Motion Picture Association of America meansnobody under 17 is allowed because of ``explicit sexual content anddialogue.'' MPAA officials declined to comment further on Thursday. The rating is considered box-office poison because it means a movie will not be shown in many multiplexes or advertised in some newspapers. OctoberFilms appealed the rating but the MPAA board refused to change it.
The movie hits
theaters Friday. It's the story of naive Mormon missionary Joe
Young (Parker), who reluctantly appears in Los Angeles porno
movies tohelp
pay for the elaborate wedding his fiancee wants in Utah.
