'South Park' to Hit Silver Screen?
HOLLYWOOD--Following in the footsteps of "Beavis and Butt-head Do America," the creators of the popular Comedy Central animated series "South Park" are reportedly discussing the possibility of bringing their characters to the big screen.
Though no official deals are in the works (primarily because Comedy Central owners Paramount and Warner Bros. would have to first come to a financial agreement regarding project ownership), co-creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have expressed a desire to take their show to the next level.
Despite the success of MTV's "Beavis and Butt-head" feature, "South Park's" Parker has expressed a desire to do something bigger and badder. Speaking to Daily Variety, the filmmaker stressed that the project would only happen if it could be R-rated.
The ability to inject profanity is something "Beavis and Butt-head" stayed away from--which is apparently the reason "South Park's" Parker likes the idea.
Comedy Central has already ordered new episodes of the series and a pay-per-view episode is reportedly on the horizon.
