Sunday August 9, 1998 South Park boys don't hate everyone

By NATASHA STOYNOFF --

WASH OUT YOUR MOUTHS!: Those naughty South Park boys and their naughty ways. What with all their cussin' and dissin' 'bout celebrities and such.

But with growing success in the feature film biz -- the recently released BASEketball, in which they star, and the future script of the sequel to Dumb And Dumber, which they will write -- the two are fielding calls from lots of movie heavyweights, including Private Ryan's Steven Speilberg, who want a piece of their bad manners.

One big name they don't expect a call from, though, is nemesis Barbra Streisand, who they frequently lampoon on their weekly animated TV show.

"If she ever called us," says Matt Stone, "we wouldn't take the call."

"No," says Trey Parker, "I hope she does call us, so we can tell her to f--- off!"

My, my.

And for what reason does Babs deserve such venom? Let's get to the bottom of this.

According to the boys, who are Colorado natives, Streisand was instrumental in starting the movie-star invasion and such in Aspen when she began bringing the likes of pretty boy Don Johnson around during their romance over a decade ago. (That was during his in-between Melanie Griffith era. He married Melanie for the second time soon after his Babs fling. But I digress.)

And this is why they hate her.

They don't hate everybody, they say, as one recent cover story of the two goofy guys insists.

Matter of fact, "Me and Trey grew up in great homes and had good upbringings," says Stone.

"Besides myself," says the beach-bum blond, "Trey is the most positive, upbeat person I know."
