Leaving

By: Coolcat

Willow walked into the Bronze with Oz. Yesterday they had graduated from high school and they were celebrating by opening the letters from their colleges. They walked over to the table where Buffy, Xander, Faith, and Angel were sitting. Willow smiled.

"Okay are we ready for the unveiling," Buffy said.

Willow nodded and Oz sat down. Willow sat next to him. The band on stage sang this song: *It's so confusing
In a twisted world
You got me close to you
Cause you're my destiny
As we push closer
And kiss we must
I know it's true
For this is destiny*

"So who's first," Willow asked.

Nobody moved.

"Slayers first," Xander said.

"Okay," Buffy said and pealed open the letter. "Buffy summers blah, blah, blah. We are..." she paused. "I got in."

The table was full of congratulations and that's so wonderful Buffy. Buffy beamed with pride.

"That's great," Angel said with a smile.

"Wow Buffy that's awesome," Willow said, "Yale is a big accomplishment."

"You'll take over the slaying for me right," Buffy said to Faith.

"Of course B," Faith laughed.

"Thanks," Buffy said, "your turn Willow."

Willow pealed open the letter. As she read it the band on stage sang: *Destiny Destiny
For this is Destiny*

"You know this song is rather reparative," Xander said.

"I got in," Willow said then whispered, "I got in to Harvard."

"Wow Willow that's awesome, congrats." Oz said, "Now I have a surprise for you."

He pulled out a letter. It was to Bunker Hill collage.

"Oz I didn't think you wanted to go," Willow said.

"How could I not? I couldn't stand being separated from you," Oz said.

Willow smiled. "Thanks, that's so sweet."

"So what's the news did you get in," Faith said.

Oz looked at the letter, "I haven't opened it yet," he pealed it open. Then smiled, "I'm in."

Destiny. *+*+*

Willow packed her things in her bag. Life was perfect it seamed impossible to get any better. She was leaving in a week with Oz to go to Boston. She would go to Harvard and he would be across town at Bunker Hill collage. She wasn'tused to city life but she figured she could manage. She heard the doorbell ring downstairs and she rushed to it. She creaked open the door it was Xander.

"Hi," she said.

"Hi can I talk to you out here for a moment," Xander said.

"Um sure okay," Willow said.

Once they got outside Xander kissed Willow. She backed away quickly.

"What was that all about," she asked.

"Well I just realized that I can't stand you leaving and that... I love you, Willow," Xander said.

There was an awkward silence between them.

"What?" Willow asked.

"I love you Willow," Xander repeated.

Willow looked at the ground confused. It had been months since the fluke and they had gotten over it. Why?

"Well don't you have something to say?" Xander asked. "Wha-what do you want me to say?" Willow asked.

"Well I love you too would be nice," Xander said.

Another awkward silence seemed to fill the dead air.

"Xander I can't say that," Willow said, "if I did I would be lying. You can't expect me to turn around one day and say hey I love Xander Harris. Cause I can't it just doesn't work that way because I don't love you. I love Oz."

"Well has he ever said I love you to you?" Xander said. "Have you ever said that to him. How could you do this to me? How could you choose Wolfboy over me?"

At this point Willow became angry, "How could I do this to you?! I'm not the one toying with people's feelings just so they won't move away. I'm sorry Xander but it just doesn't work that way."

All of a sudden a vampire jumped out a Willow and grabbed her from behind. Another one slammed down a heavy tree branch on Xander's head. The vampire put his hand over Willow's mouth.

"Hmmm," it said, "how happy Doracus shall be."

*+*+*

Oz got drove in his van down to Willows house on the way there he paused in the road. He had seen the way Xander had been looking at Willow for the last few days and he didn't want to lose her. He loved her but he was too afraid to say it to her. He was afraid of getting hurt but mostly he was afraid of hurting her.

He glanced up at the quarter moon. It shone brightly. There were no clouds left in the sky. His eyes drifted back down to the ground and as he did they widened. He saw Willow being carried away by a vampire and another one dragging Xander.

What did that Vampire think he was doing? That was his Willow and Oz would not let him hurt her. He silently got out of the van and followed the vampire throughout the graveyard. He hoped to find Buffy their but he had a feeling that he wouldn't. He took out a stake that he had slipped in his pocket before he left -- just in case.

Hey you never know in Sunnydale.

He flowed the vampire to a tomb. He peeked in holding his breath. The vampire pushed on a stone and reveled a secret passage.

"Come on Willow tree," he said.

Oz followed him into the passage and the door shut behind him. Darkness surrounded him. Oz walked flawed holding his hands out in front of him. He felt a wall and turned a corner a faint light shone at the end. He stepped slowly into it and looked both ways. He slowly stepped forward he was on a huge balcony that encircled the whole room.

He looked down at Willow she was tied to a chair with the vampire pacing slowly around her. Xander was out cold on the floor. Another vampire walked into the room.

"I have got young Willow tree," the first said.

"Good," the other said, "she must be sacrificed to what will happen."

Oz eyes widened again. He paused. Then all of a sudden he got a plan. He picked up a handful of small stones from the floor. He threw one down and it bounced off a metal candleholder and hit the first vampire in the head.

"Ow," it said as Oz jumped down and leaned against the pillar next to him.

Oz stiffled back a laugh. When the talking had quieted down Oz threw another. The same thing happened again. Xander woke up and looked around him confused. Oz threw another one and another and another.

"That's it," The first vampire said, who seemed to be a leader, "there's someone up there. Go find him."

The vampire quickly ran up the stairs as Oz stood up leaning against the pillar. The lead Vampire paced back and forth kicking the stones that Oz had just thrown. Willow looked up at Oz. Her eyes widened and her eyes flowed back to the lead vampire.

Oz pulled out the stake. Sweat ran down his neck. The vampire was coming up the other side of the pillar. He was coming closer and closer until he was just a step away.

All of a sudden Oz jumped out rammed the Vampire against the pillar and staked him. It exploded into dust with a surprised look on its face. Oz slummed back down against the pillar.

One down, one to go.

Oz peeked up at the head Vampire. He was becoming more and more impatient.

"What's taking so long?!" it cried. When there was no answer he cried again. "Are you there?"

The vampire ran up the stairs as Oz ran around the balcony to the other side where the stairs was he ran down the stairs. He ran up to Willow and the dazed Xander.

"Oz," Willow whispered.

"Shhh," Oz said.

Oz untied Willow and Xander came up to help.

"Let's go," Oz whispered.

They started to walk to the stairs. They walked up them carefully and quietly. Oz turned around and saw the vampire.

"NOOO," the vampire cried and at the same time the earth started to shake.

"Hurry," Oz said and grabbed Willow's hand and they ran with Xander close behind.

They got out the door and though the Tomb. The shaking stooped. They looked at the entrance to the cavern. Stones and gravel blocked it up.

Instantly a surprised slayer ran up to them.

"What happened?" Buffy asked.

"A vampire," Willow said, "kidnapped me and Xander. Oz saved us."

Buffy raised an eyebrow.

"Where is he now?" she asked.

"Trapped in there," Willow said. "What about the other one?"

"What other one?" Buffy said still confused.

Xander in the mist on confusion was silent.

Oz pulled out a stake; "I finally realized how to work this thing."

Willow smiled. "Thanks Oz I-I don't know what to say."

"Don't say anything," Oz said and squeezed her hand. "Come on. We have a lot to talk about."

They walked out of the graveyard and towards Oz's van. They sat inside. "Oz, Xander came over my house," Willow started, "he told me he loved me."

A disappointed look passed over Oz's face. That made Willow feel even worse.

"But I told him that I didn't love him like that," Willow said, "because I can't. I love you, Oz."

Oz smiled, "I love you, too."

They kissed in the moonlight and took another step towards their destiny.
