Jen and Joey go to the Yacht Club to enter Joey
in the contest. As they approach the place to
sign in, they see Pacey arguing to enter the
contest. He says there are no rules that says he
can't enter. Dawson goes to walk with Jen and
Joey, and he laughs a bit at Joey entering the
contest. He explains, but Joey is mad at him.
The contestants are now seated preparing to receive
the usual welcome. Now, Hanna walks in.
Hanna is a very rich, snotty girl, who knows
that she will win. Hanna and Pacey make some
cheap remarks. We then see Jen coaching Joey.
Joey is walking in heels with a book on her
head. Joey asks why she is helping her, and Jen
says that she never had any real women
friends. We now see Pacey practicing; singing
in front of Dawson and his Dad. Dawson's Dad
asks if he can do anything else. They start to
talk about clothes, and Dawson says if he wins,
this could be big. Dawson's Dad then says, "So,
in doing this, you've become a political activist,
challenging social stereotypes," in which Pacey
replies, " I kind of just wanted to make a little
extra cash." Dawson and his dad then start to
laugh.
We now see Joey and Jen talking about Dawson.
Then, we see Dawson saying that he misses
Joey. Pacey says thank god; he's finally admitted
to liking Joey; but Dawson says he does not
like her in that way. Next, we see Dawson interviewing
the contestants. Joey sits down and says
that she wants to move far away. Dawson asks
if she will be said, away from family and friends.
She says of course, but that's life.
We now see the contest. Pacey is pumping up the
crowd with smart answers and humorous little
jokes. Joey looks very beautiful in her dress
and her hair pulled up. Dawson now realizes Joey's
beauty. He now knows that he is falling for her.
Pacey goes to talk to Mrs. Leery, one of the
judges. She says that he is great, but won't
win. Enraged, he runs backstage. Joey comes out
to perform her talent, she sings a beautiful
song. During this all, Jen gets jealous knowing that
Dawson is starting to fall for Joey. Pacey decides
to change his talent from a magic show to a
dramatic interpretation. He comes out with half
of his face painted blue reenacting a scene from
Braveheart. He gets the crowd laughing at the
end, and shouts FREEDOM!
We now overhear Hanna talking bad about Joey.
Joey starts to run away, but Dawson stops her
and tells her that he is very proud of her.
Now, they announce the winners. In second place,
is Hanna. In first place is Joey, and the
winner is a smart girl who really deserves it.
Dawson starts to talk to Joey and tells her that he
likes her. Jen sees them walking to a bench holding
hands, and runs off. Dawson says that he's
seeing her in a brand new eye. She gets sad and
says that she can not go out with him. He
asks why, and Joey says that she wanted to be
looked at the way he looks at Jen, but now she
knows that she never wanted that. She says she
wants him to like her the way she is, not with
the lipstick, and makeup on. She walks away.
We now see Dawson at his house. Jen comes
over and asks if it's too late to try their relationship
again. Shocked, he says he needs more
time to think about it.
