WILL HE OR WON'T HE?

Jonathan Jackson's negotiations with GH going down to the wire

The clock is ticking on negotiations between General Hospital and Jonathan Jackson (Lucky) to determine if he'll be able to study history while working at GH - or if he'll become history at the show when he begins college in 11 weeks.

Jackson, 16, recently learned that he'd passed his high school equivalency test and plans to begin his freshman year at a Los Angeles college in January. The two-time Emmy winner is seeking a GH work schedule tailored to his class schedule, with time allowances for final exams.

Talks are going "nicely," says a source close to the situation.   Nonetheless, GH is sending Lucky away during the all-important November Sweeps period. 'Just as Lucky and Liz begin a budding romance and Lucky and Nikolas grow tenuously toward a brotherly bond, Lucky disappears, ABC teases in its website preview.

"They want to see if the show takes a hit in the ratings with Lucky off the canvas," the source says. Regardless, a show spokesperson says, "Jonathan will not be leaving General Hospital."
