Continuation of the same evening. Paul and Tess' engagement party is in full swing. But Tess isn't there to enjoy it. She is in a police car with Quentin Michaels, dressed as a cop. He has killed two policemen to make his getaway. The night ride begins....
Tess: You won't get away with this. Someone will discover I'm missing. The police know all about you Quentin. You will be caught.
Quentin: Wishful thinking my love. By the end of the night, we'll be far away and your precious family and police won't know where to find us. You're all mine Tessie.
Tess: You're a sick man. I will never love you. I will never let you touch me!
Quentin: Lora said the same thing. But she isn't around anymore to talk at all. (Laughs evilly)
Tess: Lora? Oh God---the nurse! The girl you killed! You're a murderer---a psychotic murderer!
Quentin: She wouldn't love me. And I loved her so much! But everything's okay now. I love you, we're together and that's all that matters.
Tess: It's not too late to turn around Quentin. I'm sure the police won't charge you with kidnapping if you take me back.
Quentin: Don't try to trick me. They'll pin me for murder. Nothing you say will make me turn around the car. So just sit there and think about what I'm going to do to you later tonight. (Laughs evilly again. Tess shudders).
Then all of a sudden, the car begins riding funny. Quentin stops the car. Before Tess can escape, he gags her and throws her in the trunk. Quentin walks around and discovers the left front tire is flat. He walks back to the trunk to see if there's a spare tire, but a car approaches in the distance. Quentin goes back in the car and turns on the hazard lights and goes into cop mode. A gold 4-door Chevorlet Cavalier stops beside the cop car. The doors open and out steps Cordelia and Everett Burnham...
