Song playing..."Is This Love" by Whitesnake (4:10)
The Grimes Mansion. Everyone has settled in, even though nobody wants to. Rosamond is in the den, listening to the radio. The police are gone, back to the station in case people call in with sightings of Tess and Quentin, or if Russell calls in. The yellow police tape is still strung in the rose garden. Lance enters the den.
Lance: Rosie.
Rosamond (jumping): You startled me Lance.
Lance: I didn't mean to honey. (He sits down beside her and kisses her nose) How are you?
Rosamond: Okay. Just worried about Tess and Paul.
Lance: Me too. I still can't believe he's my cousin. God, I hope they make it home alive.
Rosamond: They will. You have to have faith.
Lance: I love you.
Rosamond: I know. (Pause) So, where do we go from here?
Lance: You wanted to talk to me. About my feelings for you.
Rosamond: Yes. And my feelings.
Lance: I know you don't feel the same way. Dad told me to take it slow---
Rosamond: Your dad knows how you feel about me? What did he say?
Lance: He was suprised, but not offended. He didn't want me to confess my feelings. He cares about you, and told me to wait.
Rosamond: Does your mom and brother know?
Lance: No---not unless you want me to tell them.
Rosamond: Come clean to them. Tell them about you and Eliza. And the baby.
Lance: I will, but not now. They have too much on their minds with Tess and Paul.
Rosamond: I agree.
Lance: Rosie, do you think a relationship between us could work? I want one with you. You're everything to me.
Rosamond: Oh Lance, you're such a wonderful man. You're different from the other guys who have hurt me in the past.
Lance: They're bastards. I love you. I want to take care of you, protect you. I'll never hurt you, never. Do you believe me Rosie?
Rosamond: I do.
(Lance gives her a passionate kiss. Rosamond puts her head on his shoulder, and they stay like that, listening to the radio).
