Episode 19 is dedicated to the memory of Michael Zaslow

It's now a kittle after one-thirty in the morning. Quentin Michaels has kidnapped Tess Sherwood again and has found a carnival closed for the night to hide out in. He has taken Tess to the funhouse. She was unconscious, but is starting to wake up....

Quentin: Did you have a nice nap my love?
Tess: Where---where am I?
Quentin: This is our new love nest, for the time being.
Tess(looking around): It looks like a funhouse. We're at a carnival.
Quentin: We have it all to ourselves. (Bending down near Tess) Isn't it beautiful?
Tess: I have to get out of here. (Starts to get up)
Quentin quickly plops himself on top of her, grabs her arms, and pins them above her head.
Quentin: You're not escaping me again! You are mine now. MINE! And you're going to stay with me forever! (He kisses her violently as she tries to struggle)

Russell Gault, Chief Mario Hernandez, Paul Harper, and Kane Garrett are driving around after getting off on the exit. The men are becoming frustrated.

Paul: Where could they be? They couldn't have gotten far!
Russell: Michaels is around here. He had to have stopped someplace.
Mario spots the carnival.
Mario: Look, a carnival.
Paul: So?
Mario: So, I think that's where we'll find Michaels and Tess. The perfect hiding place. Nobody would bever think to search for them there.
Russell: Except a very smart cop. Let's try to drive in without giving ourselves away.

Back to the funhouse. Quentin is Tess all over her face and chest, still holding her arms. Then when he stops to catch his breath, Tess takes the opportunity to knee him in the groin. He yells, she breaks free and begins to run away. Quentin composes himself and chases after her....

At the Grimes mansion, a still shaken Deanna Thorpe is in the kitchen, quietly making herself a cup of tea, trying to let the news of her mother's pregnancy sink in when Lance enters.

Lance: Deanna?
Deanna: Lance, hello.
Lance: You can't sleep either?
Deanna: No. (Pause) Lance, my mother told me about the baby.
Lance: I figured she would. Well, you have every right to know.
Deanna: What went wrong Lance? Between you and Mom?
Lance: Did Eliza tell you about why I broke up with her?
Deanna: She said you're in love with Rosamond Tucker.
Lance: I didn't plan to. It just happened. I tried to tell your mom a few nights ago. But she was saying how happy she was. I chickened out. Then I finally decide to spill my guts---after she tells me she's pregnant. You must think I'm a jerk.
Deanna: That's not what I think. But your news was bad timing.
Lance: I know. But our emotions were running high. (Pause) I'm not going to abandon your mom or the baby. I told her that.
Deanna: I know you wouldn't. But Lance, do you honestly think you can have a relationship with Rosamond while my mom is carrying your child?
Lance: It will be tough. I have to take things slow with Rosie.
Deanna: Does anybody else in the family know?
Lance: No. Just us three.
Deanna: Mom said Rosamond doesn't love you.
Lance: It's not love for her yet. But Rosie and I talked earlier tonight. It will take time, but I think we will have a wonderful relationship. Dad knows how I feel, and he's not against us.
Deanna: But the baby---
Lance: The news will be a shock. But I know my family will cope. This baby will get a lot of love. And Eliza won't be treated as an outsider.
Deanna: I'm scared for my mother.
Lance: The future is scary. But we have to face it with strength. That's all we can do Deanna. Why don't you get your tea and I'll walk you back to your room.
Deanna: Alright. (Pause) I'm glad we had this talk Lance.
Lance: Me too. We needed to talk. How's Eliza now?
Deanna: Trying to be strong. Like you said, it's what she has to be.
