It's now after three in the morning. Tess Sherwood thought she had escaped Quentin Michaels in the Hall of Mirrors, but he was able to find a secret passageway that led him to right to her. Now he has caught her, and Tess is screaming and struggling to get away.

Tess: No Quentin! No! It's over! You can't have me!
Quentin: But I do have you. And I'll never let you go! Paul will just have to find somebody else!
Tess: Paul will find you, you crazy bastard! He'll find you and put you away forever!
Quentin: Paul is your past my Tessie. I'm your future.
Tess: Noooooo!

Meanwhile, Russell Gault, Paul Harper, Kane Garrett, and Mario Hernandez are in the funhouse searching for Tess and Quentin when they hear Tess' screams.

Paul: My God that's Tess! Quentin has her! (He starts running, but Russell holds him back)
Russell: Let Mario and I lead. We have guns, and it's a sure bet he still has his knife. I don't want both you and Tess hurt.
Paul: Alright. Let's go!
(The four men, in single file, run through the funhouse, and finally reach the Hall of Mirrors. Russell takes out his cell phone and dials the Breckenridge police station. Officer Atherton answers the phone).
Atherton: B.P.D. Officer Atherton speaking.
Russell: Atherton, it's Russell. I'm in a funhouse at a carnival off Exit 93 outside Alexandria, Virginia. Michaels has Tess here and we're about to come upon them. We might need backup.
Atherton: I'll send a unit. Thank God you've found them. Over and out. (Hangs up. Tess' screams can be heard closer and closer)
Paul: We're almost there!
(The four men finally spot Tess, screaming and struggling with Quentin. Russell and Mario draw their guns at Quentin).
Russell: Let go of her now Michaels!
Tess: Russell! Paul! (She tries to break free, but Quentin still has a grasp on her)
Mario: Let her go!
Quentin: No way! She's mine now! It's too late! (He takes the knife out of his pocket and holds it against her throat).
Paul: Quentin no! It's over! She doesn't love you!
Quentin: You let us escape and nothing will happen. You may have guns, but I have Tessie. And I'm not giving her up! (He presses the knife against Tess' throat tighter. Paul can't stand it anymore).
Paul: You're not going anywhere Quentin!
(He runs in front of Mario and Paul and lunges for Tess and Quentin. Tess breaks free of Quentin's grasp and the knife falls to the ground. Tess runs to Russell, and Paul and Quentin begin struggling. Russell and Mario watch helpless. Suddenly, Quentin pushes Paul to the ground, and grabs the knife, raising it. Before he can plunge it into Paul's chest, Kane runs in front of Quentin to shield Paul. Paul gets up and runs to Tess. They all stand there watching, terrified).
Kane: Don't hurt my son! Just turn yourself in Quentin. It's no use anymore!
Russell: Kane get away from him!
Paul: Dad, do as he says!
(As Kane gets distracted, he turns away from Quentin. He doesn't see Quentin raise the knife and drive it into his back. Kane yells and falls).
Paul: Dad! Dad! Michaels, you bastard! (He runs to Quentin and punches him. Quentin falls down, but gets back up and goes for Paul. Tess screams. Paul sidesteps him just as Russell fires his gun, hitting Quentin in the stomach).
Tess: Paul! Are you alright?
Paul (running to Kane and falling beside him): Dad, hang on. Hang on!
Mario: I'll call 911.

Back at the Grimes mansion, the phone rings. Lance, who is still awake, answers it in his room.

Lance: Grimes residence. (Pause) Hello, Officer Atherton.
Atherton: Are you a member of the Sherwood family?
Lance: Well, Paul Harper, Tess Sherwood's fiance, is my cousin.
Atherton: Then I guess I can tell you.
Lance: Tell me what?
Atherton: Lieutenant Gault has found Ms. Sherwood and Quentin Michaels in a funhouse in Alexandria, Virginia. A unit's on the way.
Lance: That's wonderful news! I'll tell the family. Thank you! (Hangs up)
(Despite the early hour, Lance manages to inform everybody in the house about Tess and Quentin. Everyone is so excited, they aren't tired anymore. They all gather in the living room. The phone rings again. Ingrid Grimes answers it).
Ingrid: Hello. (Pause) Russell! I heard about Tess and Quentin. That's terrific!
Russell: Ingrid, you better sit down. I have bad news.
Ingrid: Paul and Tess aren't hurt are they?
Russell: No, they're fine. It's your brother Kane. He tried to stop Quentin from stabbing Paul, but Quentin---Quentin---Quentin stabbed him. He lost a lot of blood Ingrid.
Ingrid: Oh God no! Kane! (Everybody looks toward her) He's alive isn't he? Isn't he?
Russell: Yes. We're all at Alexandria Memorial Hospital in Virginia. Kane's just been admittted to surgery. So has Quentin. I shot him in the stomach.
Ingrid: I'm coming down there.
Russell: Ingrid, I think you should stay there. There's nothing you can do for Kane.
Ingrid: I don't care, I'm coming. I have to be there. He's my only sibling!
Russell (sighing): Alright. I can't stop you. The hospital is right off Exit 93 on I-95 south.
Ingrid: I'll see you sometime after dawn. Goodbye, Russell.
Roark: Mom, what happened to Uncle Kane?
Ingrid: Quentin Michaels stabbed him. (Gasps from the group) He's at Alexandria Memorial Hospital. Paul and Tess are okay. It doesn't look good.
Roark: Alexandria, Virginia?
Ingrid: Yes. Quentin's also in surgery. Russell shot him. He's still alive. I'm going down.
Roark: Right now?
Ingrid: Yes.
Marcus: Then we'll all go. I'll drive you down dear.
Roark: In our pajamas?
Ingrid: There's no time to waste. Kane needs us now. (They all prepare to leave)
