Episode 28 Conclusion
Back at Billings Park.
Kane: If you want to search for Valerie, I won't stop you Paul. I just don't have any leads.
Paul: It's not your fault you and my mother couldn't be the parents you wanted to be.
(Russell Gault approaches Kane and Paul)
Russell: Paul, Kane, I hope I wasn't interrupting anything private, but Tess said you were here.
Paul: No you're fine Russ. Have you come with news about Joanna and Quentin?
Russell: The judge made his decision. Joanna and Quentin are to be hospitalized immediately. Joanna is being sent to Delaware State Mental Hospital. Quentin has been ordered to Riverview in New York. They aren't going to bother you or your family again.
Paul: What a relief. Look Russ, I'm sorry Tess and I weren't there for the hearing.
Russell: I understand completely. I told Judge Franklin you had to take care of your father and you didn't want to subject yourself or Tess to any more grief. Well, I better to get back to station. Wade's coming back tomorrow. We're throwing a little welcome back party for him. See you guys later. (He walks away)
Kane: This is wonderful news Paul. Now maybe you won't have to postpone the wedding. The family was crushed when we told them it was temporarily off.
Paul: I want to make sure you are up and running in top condition Dad. You know you're going to have to dance with Tess, Aunt Ingrid, Loretta, Dorothy, Rosamond, Deanna.....
Kane: I see your point. I'm not ready for tripping the light fantastic yet. (Paul smiles and puts his arm around Kane).
At the same time, Valerie Talbot is walking through the playground. She has come here to spend time alone, thinking things through. As she watches the children play. she flashes back to the day she handed baby Paul over to the Harpers and ran away crying. After the flashback is over, she looks past the children and sees Paul and Kane under an oak tree, talking and laughing. She wants to cry out but realizes that would only draw attention to herself, so she decides to take a few steps back and just watch them.
Valerie: I can't believe it! I've found them. My baby and the man I loved----the man I still love.
