It's a little after nine-thirty in the evening. It's a cold night in Breckenridge. Lance Grimes and Rosamond Tucker are in the den, snuggled together on the couch and listening to the radio.
Rosamond: Boy, is it cold outside.
Lance: Yes, but it's nice and warm in here.
Rosamond: I had a wonderful time tonight Lance.
Lance: I knew you would honey. And you thought people would stare.
Rosamond: It was silly of me to think like that.
Lance: I forgive you. (Pause) Look at you Rosie. You're so beautiful. So soft. (He begins to kiss her and stroke her shoulders). I love you so much. (He kisses her again, gently pushing her into the couch. Roamond stops him).
Rosamond: Lance, this is a bit much.
Lance: Don't you want to Rosie? I do.
Rosamond: Lance I'm sorry, but I'm not ready yet. Let's take things slow. Okay?
Lance: Al----alright. I shouldn't have come on so strong. Forgive me sweetie?
Rosamond: Of course. I'd better get to bed. I have to get up early tomorrow. (She gives him a quick kiss). I really did have a wonderful time tonight. (She gets up off the couch and smiles at Lance). I do car for you. You're an amazing man. Goodnight dear. (She leaves the room).
Lance: Goodnight Rosie. I love you.
Ingrid and Marcus Grimes are in the living room watching TV. Rosamond has just gone upstairs after saying goodnight.
Ingrid: I'm happy for Rosie aren't you dear?
Marcus (a little distracted by the TV): What? Oh, yes yes.
Ingrid: Remember when we used to go out to dinner?
Marcus (turning off the TV): Darling, we'll go out soon I promise. It's just a lot has happened with Kane coming, then Paul and Tess. Once things get calmed down, we should take a little vacation, just the two of us.
Ingrid: That would be fantastic----(Doorbell) I wonder who that could be this time of night? (She gets up to answer the door).
Marcus: I hope it's not anyone with more bad news.
Ingrid: Well, we'll see. (She opens the door, and standing there is Valerie Talbot).
Valerie: Mrs. Grimes? I'm sorry to bother you so late----do you remember me? I know it's been many, many years.
Ingrid (very shocked): Good Lord. Of course I remember you. Valerie? Valerie Pratt? (Marcus gets up and stands behind his wife, suprised).
Marcus: I don't believe it!
Valerie: Please, may I come in? It's cold out here.
Ingrid: Yes, come right in. (Valerie walks into the foyer and looks around nostalgically).
Valerie: It's just like I remember it. This was such a happy place for me.
Ingrid: Come into the living room and sit down dear.
Valerie: Thank you. (She sits down in an easy chair. Ingrid and Marcus sit back down on the sofa). I know my visit is quite a shock, but there is a reason why I'm here.
Marcus: Paul and Kane.
Valerie: Yes. After all this time, I came back to search for my son, and his father has come back too. I saw them in the park the other day. I wanted so much to talk to them, but I couldn't bring myself to do it.
Ingrid: But why not dear?
Valerie: I was afraid----afraid they would be angry at me for running away.
Marcus (softly): They're not Valerie. Paul and Kane want to find you very much. They're interested in being reunited with you.
Valerie: They are? Oh God, my prayers have been answered. (She begins to cry tears of joy).
Paul Harper and Kane Garrett are strolling downtown when they come upon the Sherwood Diner, and decide to go in. Tess Sherwood immediately spots the guys and runs over.
Tess: Honey! Kane! (She hugs Kane, then hugs and kisses Paul). What are you doing out this late?
Paul: We wanted some air. And I wanted to see my favorite lady.
Tess: Aren't you sweet. (To Kane) How are you doing future daddy-in-law?
Kane: Better all the time.
Tess: Come on, I'll fix you guys a cup of coffee. (They follow Tess to the counter. Sitting there are Zoe and Amaya Talbot).
Zoe: May, we've goto to get going. Mom and Dad are probably getting worried.
Amaya: Okay. (As she gets off the stool, she bumps into Paul): Geez, I'm sorry.
Paul: That's quite alright. (Tess comes out with two cups of coffee).
Tess: Here you go Paul and Kane. Two cups of liquid energy. Now you guys will probably stay awake all night.
Kane: Thanks Tess.
(Zoe and Amaya stop for a minute to stare at the two men. Paul turns around to face them).
Paul: Are you girls okay? (Kane also turns around)
Zoe: Uh, we're fine.
Amaya: Yeah. I thought I forgot to leave a tip, but I did.
Kane: Better bundle up, it's chilly out there.
Zoe: We will, thanks. Come on May. (The sisters head for the door. Once outside, they exchange glances).
Zoe: May, that guy's name was Paul. Do you think that's our brother?
Amaya: It has to be. He has Mom's smile. Come on, let's go home. We should tell Mom we found him.
Lance is in bed reading, but all he can think about is Rosamond. He puts his book on the nightstand and begins to turn out the light when Rosamond opens the door and closes it. She stands in front of his bed, wearing a pale blue satin nightgown.
Lance: Rosie, what are you doing here?
Rosamond: Lance----I----uh----(Lance gets out of bed and puts his arms around her).
Lance: Shh. Don't say anything honey. Come here. (He pulls her closer and kisses her, and she puts her arms around him. He leads her to the bed, and turns out the light)....
