Kane and Valerie are sharing a suprising kiss in the deceased Joanna Harper's mansion after Kane tried to comfort her over her failing marriage. Kane breaks away from Valerie, a look of uncertainty on his face.

Valerie: Why did you stop Kane?

Kane: I don't want things to happen too fast. We're both very vulnerable right now, and you're still married.

Valerie: Just for right now. It won't be long Kane.

Kane: Until you are divorced from Drennen, we can't get involved. Your marriage is too volatile. If we set Drennen off again, there's no telling what he might do.

Valerie: He tries something, I'll make sure he's in jail.

Kane: There's more Val. I also want Paul, Zoe, and Amaya to feel comfortable. Our kids need to be okay with this. Our whole family has to be okay with this.

Valerie: They'll accept us Kane. They know our history, how much we loved each other. But I guess you're right. No need to rush. The kiss was wonderful though. Come on, let's finish unpacking.

Kane: Sounds good to me. (He kisses her on the cheek).

At the Sherwood Diner, Dorothy is stunned after Wade asks her out on a date.

Dorothy: Wade, I'm flattered, but I like Russell. I can't go out with you.

Wade: But your relationship isn't that serious yet.

Dorothy: It's becoming serious. Russell is the only guy I want to be with right now. You must understand Wade.

Wade: I'm sorry, it's just that I really like you.

Dorothy: It's very flattering. Nobody's been interested in me in a long time. How about a piece of Mom's lemon merangue pie? It's the best in town.

Wade: I'd love some.

Dorothy: That's the spirit. You'll find someone Wade. A brave, handsome guy like you won't be lonely for long.

Wade: Thanks for the words of encouragement.

Dorothy: Well, you're welcome my friend.

Wade: (to himself): Friend.....I wish it could be more....

Lance and Rosamond are at Cordelia and Everett's drinking hot chocolate and eating Christmas cookies. They're also discussing Eliza's sudden change of heart about not interfering in Lance and Rosamond's relationship.

Everett: I really don't think Eliza's done.

Lance: What makes you think that Everett?

Everett: It's too neat. After all this time of trying to come between you, she suddenly decides to stop?

Cordelia: It does sound fishy.

Rosamond: I truly believe Eliza has finally realized trying to get Lance back isn't doing her baby any good. The more she tried to snare Lance, the more he drew back. It would be devastating for her if Lance didn't want to be a father to their baby.

Lance: I want us to be good parents to our daughter, but I don't want her thinking we're getting back together. I think she knows she'll jeopardize her chance of a cordial relationship as parents if she puts romance ahead of motherhood. Did that sound right?

Cordelia: I'd still keep my eye on her.

Rosamond: It's just nice not to be in competition so to speak.

Lance: Rosie honey, you'd win everytime. (Kisses her).

Everett: Maybe it's the cynic in me, but you can't take everything at face value. I know you want a friendly relationship with Eliza, but don't be so blind to the fact that she might be manipulating you.

Lance: I dated Eliza for over a year. If she isn't being sincere I think I could call her on it.

Cordelia: Well, for the sake of your hapiness, I hope so.....
