The night goes on as people continue to dance, drink, and celebrate the coming holiday. Lance and Rosamond are now at a table sitting with Cordelia and Everett, talking and laughing. Tess and Paul are sitting with Ingrid and Marcus Grimes, eating slices of chocolate cake. Larry and Deanna are looking at the Christmas trees. Dorothy and Russell are dancing. Kane and Valerie are also dancing. Valerie has her head on Kane's shoulder, and her eyes are closed, flashing back to her kiss with him the other night. A few seconds later, Roark and Fawn run into the room, announcing it's beginning to snow. Everyone gets excited.
At the same time, Eliza is upstairs in the nursery, looking out the window at the falling snow, and the Christmas lights on the houses of her neighbors. Tears begin streaming down her cheeks as she is thinking of the love she had with Lance, and the good times she shared with Drennen. She makes a vow to her baby that her daughter will not end up alone like she is now.
Drennen is walking through downtown Breckenridge, gazing at the Christmas displays in the store windows. He spots a toy store, and goes up to the window. He sees a pair of dolls that remind him of the dolls he bought his daughters for Christmas, and he begins to shake and cry. The snow begins falling harder, as if to go along with Drennen's emotions. Drennen is overcome with sadness at the fact that he won't be with his family for Christmas, and he slumps to the snowy ground, sobbing.
