It's Valentine's Day and love is in the air in Breckenridge. It's an unsually mild night, and Kane Garrett and Valerie Talbot are at his condo, slow dancing in the living room to a CD playing love songs. Kane gives her a soft kiss.
Kane: Did you get all the food for your dinner yet?
Valerie: It's Valentine's Day, you're holding me in your arms, and you're asking me about cooking? Some romantic you are!
Kane: The night's night over yet Valerie.
Valerie: Woo-hoo! Well then, I better keep my mouth shut. (Pause) Drennen called me from jail to wish me and the girls Happy Valentine's Day.
Kane: What did you say?
Valerie: I told him that was nice of him and that's all. But I don't want to talk about him anymore. (She rests his head on her shoulder and he pulls her even closer, getting lost in the music).
Paul and Tess Harper are finishing up a candlelight dinner at their house. Tess is wearing a ruby heart-shaped pendant, Paul's gift to her.
Tess: I wish every day could be like this. No distractions, no psychopaths.
Paul: It's been crazy hasn't it? But I'm glad we're together to face the bad times. He reaches across the table and grabs her hand to kiss it). I love you Tess.
Tess: And I love you. Oh, it's such a gorgeous night out. Why don't we take a drive?
Paul: Sounds good to me. Let's go.
Dorothy is at the Sherwood Diner, helping out Loretta, Zoe, and Amaya.
Loretta: It's too bad you and Russell couldn't go out tonight Dorothy.
Dorothy: He had to work. I'm going to have to get used to being a busy cop's girlfriend. Don't worry Mom, we're going out tomorrow. (Zoe comes up carrying a pile of empty trays).
Zoe: Wow, I didn't realize the diner would be so busy tonight. But I guess if you're a cheap couple, this is the place to go. See ya later! (Goes in the kitchen).
Lance Grimes and Rosamond Tucker enter the diner dressed to the nines. They head over to Dorothy and Loretta. Lance hands them each a red rose from a bunch he has in his hand.
Lance: Happy Valentine's Day ladies.
Loretta: Thanks Lance. How sweet of you to bring us these.
Rosamond: Lance saw this woman selling single red roses across from the Plumtree and he couldn't resist. He got one for Mrs. G., Tess, you two, Cordy, Jadyn, Deanna, Eliza, Valerie, Zoe, and Amaya. I think that's everybody!
Dorothy: Looks like he bought her out. (Zoe and Amaya come out through the door carrying more trays of food which they bring around to the tables. Lance walks over to them and hands them a rose and gives them a kiss on the cheek. Zoe blushes, Amaya beams).
Lance: Those are great girls. Come on Rosie, let's go home and see if we can get some time to ourselves before Mom and Dad get back from the Inner Harbor. Goodnight ladies. (Everyone exchanges goodbyes as the two head out).
