Brody Pearce is driving his black 1995 2 door Ford Escort down a tree lined street lit only by porchlights and streetlights. He's looking for a house with no cars or one that looks empty to rob. It was recently revealed that Brody is the Breckenridge Night Prowler.
Brody: Jesus, doesn't anybody go out in this town? (He turns up the radio and begins singing) I can feel it coming in the air tonight...hold on...I've been waiting for this moment for all my life...hold on...hold on...(He turns onto another street named Waterman Court and begins looking up and down again for an empty house. He finally finds one with the porchlights on and with no cars in the driveway).
Brody: No garage---that's good. (He circles around and parks his car in another driveway of a house that has a for sale sign on the front lawn. He turns off the car, gets out, and quietly shuts the door. He begins to walk across the street, acting nonchalant. He looks around, making sure nobody sees him, the runs around the back).
Brody: There's a deck and sliding doors---very good. (He climbs up the steps to the doors, kneels down, takes a hairpin out of his pocket, and begins to pick the lock. After a few moments, Brody enters the darkened kitchen, slipping his mask on).
Meanwhile, just a few neighborhoods away, Paul, Tess, Kane, and Valerie are sitting in the den of Valerie's home sipping wine. They have just finished a delicious meal and are waiting for Zoe and Amaya to begin the entertainment.
Tess: What are the girls going to be doing? Singing?
Paul: Well, as long as it's not a Britney Spears song.
Valerie: Give the girls some credit. They wanted to this for you Paul. And you too Kane. You're going to have fun watching them.
Kane: We're only kidding honey. (He reaches around Valerie and begins rubbing her side. Then her squeezes her breast. Valerie squeals).
Valerie: Kane Morgan Garrett! What do you think you're doing?
Kane (grinning): My hand slipped.
Paul: What are you two doing over there? Wait a minute---Dad, your middle name is Morgan?
Tess (laughing): Someone's going to get lucky tonight.
(Zoe and Amaya come downstairs dressed in long hooded coats. Amaya is carrying a karoke machine).
Paul: You girls going to be humming the Star Wars theme?
Zoe: Real funny big brother.
Amaya (setting down the karoke machine): I'd like to see you guys get up here and sing.
Valerie: Kane would. He has a wonderful voice.
Kane: My song repertoire stops with The Eagles. I don't know anything after that.
Zoe: What we're singing is pretty old. It's disco.
Tess: Are you going to do YMCA?
Amaya: Nope. Ready Zoe?
Zoe: Sure am. (She turns on the karoke player).
(The girls take off their coats to reveal sequin silver dresses. After a few seconds, the first strains of It's Raining Men by the Weather Girls begin. The girls pick up their microphones and start singing and dancing).
At Eliza Braxton's house, she and Rosamond Tucker are upstairs in baby Melissa's nursery. Rosamond is in a rocking chair holding the baby and Eliza is putting clothes away in a drawer.
Eliza: Would you ever have a baby Rosamond?
Rosamond: I'd like to be a mother someday.
Eliza: It wouldn't be impossible for Melissa to have a sibling before she turns two.
Rosamond: I haven't even considered having a child with Lance. Eliza, we even haven't talked marriage. It's not been a year since we got together.
Eliza: But Lance loves you, and his love was so strong not even my pregnancy could stop him from revealing his true feelings for you.
Rosamond: You know, I still feel responsible for Lance leaving you.
Eliza: It's not your fault. You didn't know Lance was in love with you. You didn't know he would break up with me. And that's why you shouldn't leave him Rosamond. His life is perfect now and his world would be shattered if you wanted nothing more to do with him.
Rosamond: And he wouldn't be around for the baby. Eliza, I'm leaving him so he will be here for Melissa.
Eliza: He wants you to be a part of our daughter's life. We want you to come to the christening.
Rosamond: I don't know---
Eliza: You're afraid of settling down. I know you're used to being on your own, but your sister, brother-in-law, and niece are here. It wouldn't hurt to expand your family a little would it?
Rosamond: It's just too soon Eliza. I need time---Lance needs time. I appreciate what you're trying to do, but I'm still not comfortable. I think I need to sleep on it tonight.
Zoe and Amaya have finished their song and everybody else is clapping and cheering. Kane gets up and puts his arms around the girls, giving them each a kiss.
Kane: Great job girls. That was fun to watch.
Tess: I feel like dancing now.
Paul: Then let's do it! There used to be some old tapes up in the attic that Stephen would play all the time. I'll go up and see if I can find them.
Tess: Honey, are you okay going up in the attic? With all of the memories?
Paul: I'll be fine. Be right back. (He heads for the staircase)
Valerie: This has been such a fantastic evening. I'd hate to see it end.
But the night is just beginning for Brody. He is ransacking the darkened house, putting a mini stereo, silverware, and metal box into a big sack. He moves to the living room and begins searching for more valuables. Brody moves to the mantle above the fireplace and stops dead in his tracks. He sees a framed picture of a family. Through the darkness, he is able to recognize the woman in the picture---Cordelia Burnham.
Brody: Jesus Christ, I'm in Cordelia's house. Well, well, well, isn't this interesting. So you do have a husband and a kid. I'm sure you won't mind of I take something to remind me of you---(The sound of a car entering the driveway is heard) Dammit, she's home! I've got to get out of here now!
Verse from "In The Air Tonight" by Phil Collins, from the Miami Vice soundtrack.
Next on come nightfall:
