Same afternoon, but a little later...

At the Burnham house, Lance and Rosamond are walking hand in hand around the backyard, extremely blissful and more in love than ever. Earlier that afternoon, the two shared a romantic tryst and had reunited after a short but agonizing separation due to Rosamond's insecurity about Lance and Eliza's daughter.

Lance stops in front of a rosebush, picks a long stemmed pink rose, and puts in Rosamond's curly dark hair.

Lance: Now you look even more beautiful.

Rosamond: I love roses. I guess my mother predicted that when she named me.

Lance: But they can't compare to you my dear. You're the most beautiful rose of them all.

Rosamond: How sweet.

Lance: It's true. Listen, I want to be serious for a minute. We love each other, and we want to be together right?

Rosamond: That's all I ever wanted.

Lance: Well, I think it's time we make it official.

Rosamond: Wait a minute! You don't mean you and I should---

Lance: Yes, that's exactly what I mean. (Pause) Rosie, I think we should get married.

At the Grimes mansion, Larry and Roark are sitting in the sunroom. The two are steamed over Victor Pearce's attack on Larry's mother Loretta.

Larry: We have to confront him Roark! First Brody, and now my mom. How many other people are going to be hurt because of him?

Roark: He won't listen to anybody Larry. You found out what happened when I got on him. (Sighing) Oh Larry, I'm sorry about your mom. Maybe if she pressed attempted assault charges against him, he'd go to jail for a while.

Larry: He'd get out soon after, and I don't want Mom to be more shaken up than she has been. (Stands up) The bastard! What the hell is wrong with him?

Roark: He's a pure S.O.B. plain and simple. He's not happy until he makes someone else suffer. Brody has to get away from him.

Larry: I can't take it anymore Roark. Something has to be done, and if I'm the one who has to talk to him, then I will---no matter what the consequences.

Victor Pearce is in the living room of his apartment drinking a can of beer when there's a knock on the door. He opens it up and Dorothy Sherwood walks in, furious.

Victor: Well, well, well, Dorothy, what do I owe this pleasure?

Dorothy: Believe me Mr. Pearce, pleasure is not what you're getting.

Victor: So you like it rough huh?

Dorothy: Don't play games with me. You attacked my mother today.

Victor: I didn't attack her. I just wanted to be nice that's all, and she took it out of context. No harm done.

Dorothy (incensed): No harm done? She came into the diner scared out of her wits! What kind of sicko are you anyway?

Victor: You watch your mouth.

Dorothy: Don't you dare threaten me. I'm not one to be easily frightened. I will go to the police and report you. You're nothing but a sick bully. You lay a finger on my mother again, I swear I'll have your ass thrown in jail so fast your head will spin! Do I make myself clear?

Victor (burning up inside): Very.

Dorothy: Good. (She begins to head for the door, then stops and glares at Victor): I hope I never have to see your face again. (She turns around and slams the door)

Victor throws his beer can at the door in a rage. Liquid explodes all over the door, running down it and onto the carpet/

Victor (seething): Bitch! How dare you talk to me like that! I've been put down by you whores for too long. You all should better watch out---it's going to stop very, very, soon...

Back to the Burnham's backyard.

Rosamond (astonished): Get married?

Lance: Yes baby. I want us to be together, for now and forever.

Rosamond: But we haven't been together even a year yet. We'd be rushing things.

Lance: We don't have to get married right away, but we could just be engaged for a while. Knowing you'll soon be wearing my ring is good enough for me.

Rosamond: Lance, you know I love you, but one afternoon together after reuniting is not cause to start hearing wedding bells. I'm not going anywhere for a long time.

Lance: I want you to be my wife and I think now is the perfect time. Just give it some thought.

Rosamond: This is so sudden, so out of the blue.

Lance: I just don't want you to leave me again. I want you to be by my side for the rest of my life. (He picks her up and begins carrying her toward a gazebo in the backyard. Once he reaches the top he lays her down and gets on top of her. He begins kissing her and pulling down the straps of her sundress).

Kane Garrett is looking out the huge window in the living room of his condo, letting the warmth of the sun's rays go through him. The doorbell rings, and he snaps out of his peaceful splendor to answer it. His sister Ingrid is in the doorway.

Kane: Ingy! Come on in sis! (He gives her a bear hug)

Ingrid: I know it's been a while, so I'd thought I'd stop in and see how my baby brother is doing.

Kane: Everything is great.

Ingrid: Good, I'm glad. (Sitting down on the sofa) Look, I know you and Valerie are back together, and I couldn't be happier for you but I wanted to remind you---

Kane: I haven't told her Ingy. And I haven't told Paul. But they're going to have to know someday Ingy. I owe it to them to tell them about really happened before we even set foot in Breckenridge---why we left home all those years ago...

Next on Come Nightfall:

Paul and Marcus stumble across a secret stack of letters in Marcus and Ingrid's bedroom.

Ingrid pleads with Kane not to reveal their secret.

While Rosamond mulls over Lance's proposal, Dorothy and Russell finally get passionate.
