Breckenridge Memorial Hospital, 11:30 a.m.
Kane, Valerie, Zoe, and Amaya are in the ER lobby with Paul, who is walking around, his nerves frazzled. Kane goes over to his son and grabs his shoulders.
"Paul, calm down. I'm sure Tess will be fine," he reassured.
"Damn Quentin," Paul cursed silently. "Damn him. This is the last thing we needed Dad! It won't be long before he tracks us down and tries something again." He sighed heavily. "I cannot fathom how my sister is infatuated with that maniac." He wiped his brow with his wrist. "We need to talk some sense into her, and fast."
"We might not have to worry about Zoe anymore," Kane replied. "I think after she learned that Quentin killed that nurse from Bel Air, she dropped her feelings for him real fast."
"Thank God for small favors," Paul whispered.
The door to the examining room opened, and Dr. Nora Hayes stepped out. "Paul, come on in the back. Tess wants to see you," she called.
Paul rushed to her. "Is she okay?"
Dr. Hayes smiled. "Why don't you find out for yourself."
She led Paul to a room on the right down the hall, where Tess was sitting on an examining table. Paul took her into his arms and kissed her softly. "Are you all right angel? You had me so worried when you collapsed like that at the house."
Doctor Hayes smiled again. "I'll leave you two to your privacy," and she closed the door.
"Everything is just fine Paul," Tess said happily.
"What did the doctor say baby? What caused you to faint?" Paul asked his wife.
Tess was beaming now. "The pitter-patter of little feet sweetheart."
Paul's mouth dropped open. "You mean you're---you're pregnant?" he stammered.
"I'm seven weeks along," Tess answered. "It looks like Kane and Valerie and your sisters have a new family member to look forward to."
"Not to mention Aunt Ingrid, Lance, Roark, Uncle Marcus..." Paul's voice trailed off. "Geez, it hasn't even been a year since we got married!" He laughed. "Apparently the little swimmers couldn't wait." He have her another kiss.
Tess laughed back. "Looks like we have some explaining to do. And start thinking about a nursery."
Elaine's Restaurant, 2:30 p.m.
"So Alex, how long have you been in town?" Eliza Braxton grinned at Alex Perrini. The two were having a late lunch together. Eliza had met him in the park, and asked him out on the spot.
"Just a few months." It's such a lovely town---when you forget about the crime," he replied.
Eliza looked down at her plare of chicken alfredo. She didn't like the fact he had brought up the killings, but she deduced he couldn't help it. "Yeah, it's terrible," she murmured.
Alex picked up on her tone. "I'm sorry Eliza. I didn't mean to bring you down."
"It's okay," Eliza replied. "You can't run away from it, no matter how hard you try." She smiled again. "Would you like to come to my house tonight for a drink? My daughter will be out with her boyfriend, so we'll have the whole place to ourselves." She winked seductively.
Alex didn't know what to say. Not only was Eliza older than him, she was so different from his ex-girlfriend Lynn. Lynn was needy and manipulative, and liked to play mind games. Eliza was blunt and knew what she wanted. Maybe it was time he went for a woman like that. And to be hones, he did miss sharing a bed. Eliza seemed like the type of woman who enjoyed sex with no strings attached.
"Alex?" Eliza asked.
"Oh---sorry," he replied sheepishly. "I was just daydreaming."
"About me I hope," Eliza cooed.
"Actually, yes I was," Alex grinned. "I will come to your house tonight. Just give me the directions."
Eliza grinned back. She was ready for this boy. Suzanne's murder made her realize how mundane her life had become, and it was time to get back in the swing of things. And she thought a hot roll in the hay with this handsome stranger would be the perfect way to do it.
