It's still the same evening. Ingrid's brother Kane Garrett is sitting in a window seat on a plane with a sad look on his face. An older man is asleep next to him. Kane looks out the window, then holds up a small photo, but we can't see who it's of.

Kane: It won't be very long now. I just hope I don't give myself away when I see you.

At the Sherwood home, Tess, her mother and siblings, Deanna, Roark, Paul, and Russell have all come because Tess has just gotten another call from Quentin.

Paul: I knew it was him when I heard that dedication on the radio. I'm glad you called the police Tess. What I can't believe is he actually said he was in love with you.
Larry: If he is, what a sick way to show it. Then again, he already is sick.
Roark: Tess, maybe it would be a good idea if my mom cancelled the engagement party for this Friday.
Tess: No way. We have to show this creep his psychotic rants aren't scaring us. And I'm looking forward to this party. Especially since it's a masquerade party. It will give us a chance to forget about this awful situation. (Looks at Paul) Right honey?
Paul: You're right. And Ingrid would be so crushed if she had to cancel this party she worked so hard to plan for us.
Dorothy: That's the spirit.
Russell: Good idea for you to call Star 69 Tess. Now we know Joanna has got to be involved. But I want her to confess her involvement without forcing it out of her.
Tess: It was just on a whim. The guy admitted without giving out her name that Joanna is involved. Oh Paul honey, I'm so sorry you have to hear this! (Goes to Paul and squeezes his shoulders).
(Paul is staring out the living room window. He is flashbacking to when he was six years old. He is peeking out of his bedroom door, watching his mother on the phone in the upstairs hallway shouting at somebody.
Younger Joanna: I'm not going to tell you for the last time! Stop calling me! You know he's better off with Zachary and I. So why don't you leave us alone! (Pause) I know you love him, but he's not yours anymore. Just leave us alone! (She slams down the phone and storms away).
(Paul quickly shuts his door and hops on his bed. He falls asleep wondering who Mommy was yelling at).
Tess: Paul? Paul? Paul baby, what's wrong?
Paul (snapping out of his flashback): I'm sorry. I was just thinking about Mother. And why she's become so cruel.
(Everybody crowds around Paul to show their support).

At the Grimes mansion, Rosamond, Cordelia, Everett, and Jadyn have settled in for the night. Lance, Marcus, and Ingrid are in the living room.

Ingrid: I have terrific news. Kane is coming to visit for a while.
Lance: Hey that's great! I haven't seen Uncle Kane for a few years. What's he been up to? I hope he's feeling better.
Ingrid: He's still a little down in the dumps, but he's looking forward to seeing all of us. He needs his family right now.
Marcus: When did he tell you he was coming?
Ingrid: Uh, a few days ago. Well, actually, he wrote me a letter. He wanted to share some personal things. About---about Mom and Dad.
Lance: How are Grandma and Grandpa?
Ingrid: Not good. They're both getting and old and weak. Oh dear! I have to pick up Kane from BWI. He took a late flight. He'll be staying with us. It will be nice to have him here, to catch up on things. I'll see you later. You don't have to wait up. (Kisses Marcus and Lance)
Marcus: Be careful Ingy.
Ingrid: I will. Goodbye. (Gets her purse and leaves)
Marcus: Did she seem strange to you?
Lance: A little. I wonder what's going on between her and Uncle Kane. Why didn't she tell us about his coming sooner?
Marcus: I don't know. But you know their parents are sore spots with them. I just hope things are alright.

Kane is getting off the plane and heading into BWI. He finds an unoccupied bench and sits down. He stares out the window.

Kane: Sis will be coming soon. We have a lot to talk about. I only pray that once I tell the truth, I don't lose my family. Not again....
