Authors Notes: I've been wanting to try a New Trainer fic for awhile
now. Two weeks ago I started this fic, not sure where it was going and
just now I saw it as an opportunity! The rest of this fic will be in
Satoshi's POV. Although I'll switch to Musashi's POV and Inferno's
POV every now and then. Enjoy! (I hope)

Ketchum: The Journey Continues

Fighting Mad!!
Chapter 11

~~~~~~Inferno's POV~~~~~~
We had left Vermillion a week ago after Satoshi had called his mom.  He
said we were on our way to Celadon Gym which was Plant pokemon.
My department.
"Now Inferno, you looked awful smug when Cubone beat Raichu.  Like
you knew she'd win.  Care to explain why you didn't tell me?"
I gulped suddenly nervous.  I thought he hadn't been looking . . .
*She's that good because she's the child of the Warrior of Ground . . .*
"Pardon?  Warrior of Ground?"  He gave me 'The Eye', I shifted a little.
*The Marowak.  She let Cubone come with us so she'd be safe from the
cruel teasing of her siblings and grow stronger.*
"I see.  So why do you call Marowak the Warrior of Ground?"
*Of all the 15 types of Pokemon there are those that are the best of their
type.  They become the Warrior of that type.  The old Onyx was the
Warrior of Rock, Marowak the Warrior of Ground and so on.*
"Now I get it.  Although you should've told me Inferno."  He gave me a
light punch in the arm.
"What are you two talking about?"
"*Nothing.*" We both said.
"Hmph, boys."
~~~~~~Musashi's POV~~~~~~

 I rolled my eyes. I heard my stomach rumble.
"Can we stop and get something to eat?" I asked.
"Uhhh . . ." Another loud rumble. I chuckled. "Sure."
Satoshi unrolled a picnic blanket and weighted the corners down with
rocks before setting the food out.
We called out our pokemon and gave them their lunch before we started
on our own.
"Man man key." I looked up, what was that?
"Satoshi, did you hear something?"
He blinked and looked at me. He shook his head. Maybe I just imagined
it. Meowth was engaged in a conversation with Cubone and Clefairy.
Cubone suddenly looked toward one of the few trees in the canyon before
standing up and tossing her bone.
A Mankey fell out with a bump on it's head as the bone returned to
Cubone. Suddenly about two dozen Mankeys came from their hiding
spots, looking mad.
Satoshi and I looked at each other.
"Uh oh."
Being careful not to make eye contact we recalled our pokemon, slowly
Satoshi handed Clefairy over to Inferno.
"Grab your bag and get ready to hop on Fearow when I call her out."
Satoshi whispered as he slowly stood up.
"Fearow, help us out!" He released her and I hopped on her back. He
was running toward us when the Mankeys surrounded him
"Satoshi!"  I yelled.
"Fly to the top canyon Fearow!" What?
"Fear . . ." Fearow protested to that order.
"Do it!" He yelled to her. I saw her blanch from my position on her back
Fearow took off, the back wash of her wings causing enough distraction
for Satoshi to run to Inferno. He met him halfway and was in the air as
soon as his arms were around his neck.
Satoshi shouted something to Inferno and I saw him turn around to come
and meet us at the top of the canyon.
Inferno was starting to strain, he flapped his wings harder. Then I
remembered something I read in a book before my journey.
'Because of their bat-like wings it's impossible for a Charizard to fly
vertically for too long without stalling.'
Oh no . . . and he was carrying Satoshi and Clefairy's weight, he wouldn't
make it!
Inferno seemed to realize this about the same time I did, he handed
Clefairy to Satoshi and rammed his claws in the wall of the canyon.
He looked down at the Mankeys below him and us above him.
"I choose you, Pidgeotto! Carry Clefairy to Musashi!" Then he said
something I couldn't hear to Pidgeotto and Inferno.
Once Pidgeotto had made it up here he started squawking.
"Meowth, translate!"
"Pidgeotto says Satoshi's got a plan."
I admit, it was a good idea when I heard it.
"Fearow, I know I'm not your trainer . . ."
"Row!" She squawked before going down to collect Satoshi. Once she
came back we took the ropes from our bags and tied the ends together
tightly, we gave each end to a Pidgeotto and told them what to do. They
were the only Pokemon that could pull this off.
They swooped down and circled Inferno, wrapping the rope around him
twice before coming back up and handing the ends to us, we had already
called out all of our pokemon, the strongest would go in the back and the
weaker in front.
On Satoshi's rope there was from back to front, Graveller, Weepinbell,
Cubone, Fearow and Dratini. On my side there was Nidorina, Ivysaur,
Wartortle, Beedrill, Vaporeon and Pidgeotto.
Satoshi and myself were in front of the strongest. Him in front of
Graveller and me in front of Nidorina.
"Ready! PULL!" We yelled as we began to haul the heavy lizard to
safety.
"You know Satoshi, you need to put him on a diet!" I panted, trying to
lighten up the situation.
"Don't say that around him! He's touchy about his waistline!" He
laughed back.

~~~~~~Inferno's POV~~~~~~
I relaxed my body as they pulled me up like Satoshi had told me too.  I
looked down at the Mankeys, I couldn't resist.  I pulled my eyelid down
and gave them a loud raspberry.  They were infuriated!  They began
jumping up and down, a few of the braver ones began climbing.  Uh oh, I
pushed them too far . . .
Suddenly the speed I was being pulled up increased, that meant one or
two of their pokemon evolved!
The cliff edge was in my reach, I reached up and began to pull myself up,
everyone collapsed in exhaustion when they saw I was safe.  I looked
among them for the evolved pokemon, there a Pidgeot and a Dragonair!
I risked a glance down the cliff, the Mankeys were still climbing!  And
everyone else was too tired to fight them!  I sent a Flamethrower down,
warning them off.
Satoshi and Musashi recalled their pokemon.
"Too bad about lunch."  Musashi sighed.
*We've got bigger problems than lunch.* I rumbled.
"Like what Inferno?"
*Ahhh . . . well . . . when you were pulling me up I kinda . . . ticked off
the Mankeys and now they're climbing up the cliff.*
"Good one Inferno.  Come on Musashi, the Mankeys are on their way
and our pokemon are too tired to fight."
"Oh noooo . . ."  She moaned as Satoshi helped her up.
We began to run, I covered their backs, occasionally throwing a
Flamethrower toward the Mankeys to slow them down.
It was dark when we finally lost them.  I was exhausted, but Musashi and
Satoshi were already asleep.  Oh well, they're only human.
I looked at the sky and figured it would be a nice night so I unrolled their
sleeping bags and carefully put my sleeping trainer and Musashi in them.
Before I know it, Clefairy, Meowth and I are asleep.
~~~~~~Musashi's POV~~~~~~

I woke up slowly to the sound of snoring, and it's not Meowth's. I've
learned to sleep through his snoring.
How did I get in my sleeping bag?
Inferno's the one snoring, he must've also put me in my sleeping bag
before dropping off. I looked sleepily at Satoshi. He was so cute in his
sleep.

I shook my head, it was just a thought from being half asleep. It'll be
gone tomorrow. I curled up and went back to sleep.

~~~~~~Satoshi's POV~~~~~~
Mmmm . . . . something smelled good.  But I was so tired . . .
But I was hungry too . . .
I pulled my mind from sleep and opened my eyes half way.  Musashi was
cooking something.
"Mshshi?"  I mumbled.
"So you finally woke up Satoshi, come on, lunch is almost ready."
"Lnch?"  I pulled myself up and looked at the plate of food in front of me.
I yawned.
"Thanks Musashi."  I said as I started eating.
"I've got bad news Satoshi, I was checking our bags to see if we lost
anything . . ."
I had a sinking feeling.
"All our money's gone.  It must've fell out when we were running."
<*&%#.>
"Great, we're broke.  Dumb Mankeys."
I was in a sour mood.
"The next town is three days away from here, our supplies won't last that
long.  We'll have to fly there.  Let's hope your Fearow and my Pidgeot
are up to it."
"Yeah."  I muttered as I called out Fearow and took the map.
"Hey Fearow, do you think you and Pidgeot could have us at this town
by nightfall?"
(Pidgeot is the faster of the two of us, he could carry one person that far
by nightfall, not two though.  But if you let Pidgeot and I take turns flying
the two of you we could be there by nightfall or a little later.)
"That's a good idea Fearow.  Would you mind if your turn was first?"
She shook her head.
I told Musashi Fearow's plan, we had to coax Meowth and Clefairy into
pokeballs to lighten the load for our two flyers.
We were on Fearow soaring over the canyons, she was just gliding on the
wind to save her energy but I could see she was getting tired.
"Land here Fearow!  It's Pidgeot's turn!"
We landed and changed flyers before going up again.  Pidgeot zoomed
along at Mach 2, making me stick my face in his feathers just so I could
breathe, Musashi was doing the same with my jacket.
Pidgeot began to slow down, I looked down.  There was the town!  I
checked my watch, 15 minutes to curfew.
When he landed in front of the Pokemon Centre he was panting.
"Thanks Pidgeot."  I said as Musashi recalled him.
We walked in and handed our pokemon to Nurse Joy.  I sat down on the
couch and released Clefairy, Inferno and Cubone.
"Yeah yeah, I know I owe you guys two chapters."  I pulled the book
from my bag and began to read to them.
While I was reading I was thinking about the pokemon food I had already
made in my pack.  There was barely enough for their breakfast, they'd
need the strength for tomorrow.  I was going to see if I could find some
odd jobs to earn money.
