Authors Notes: Here I am again and all ready for season 2 of this fic for
the few of you that'll probably come banging on my door to demand I
finish this already.
In this chapter there's a guest POV. Little Raptor.
As usual, Feedback would be greatly appreciated! And so would
suggestions for the final chapter of my fic Forever. I kinda got writers
block on that one.
Ketchum: The Journey Continues
Season 2
Fight For Raptor! - Part 1
Chapter 6
~~~~~~Raptor's POV~~~~~~
The bad one pulled out four pokeballs.
"Let's settle this with a battle boy, winner keeps the killer."
I hissed at the bad humans.
"Agreed. I'll fight for Raptor's safety." He put me behind his leg. "Stay
here with Pirow Raptor."
I nodded. I told you father protects me.
"Tananda! Get the others! Tell them what's going on." Father told
Fearow. "Pirow, go home and tell mom and Professor Oak, hurry!"
*Right!* Pirow flew for home.
"I'll warn you now kid, me and my pokemon once placed tenth in the
League."
Father got more worried, I think what the bad human said wasn't a good
thing. But father would win no matter what! His pokemon are strong!
When I'm grown up I'll protect him.
~~~~~~Inferno's POV~~~~~~
*Let me in! Let me in!*
I let in Pirow, he was panicking.
*What's wrong Pirow?*
*Get Misty and Professor Oak! Raptor's in trouble! Satoshi's in
trouble!*
*What?!*
Pirow shook his head.
*Bad man who killed Raptor's mother at the beach! He saw Raptor,
Pokemon battle. Winner keeps Raptor.*
Oh Fire God.
*Tell Misty! I'll go tell Professor Oak!* He nodded and we separated.
I flew full speed for Oak's place, he'd stop this fight! And Satoshi would
be safe!
The door was locked. No time to be polite, gotta go for the direct
approach!
I incinerated the door and ran in.
"This better be important Inferno."
*It is! No time to explain!* I grabbed his arm and dragged him outside. I
threw him on my back and took of for the beach.
*Big trouble at the beach, Mr. Yamaga saw Raptor and challenged
Satoshi to a battle for his life!* I said as I flew at my top speed. It
wouldn't match Tananda's or Paradox's but it would have to do.
"Fly faster then!"
We landed at the beach, Satoshi was trying to stall the battle.
"I'm so glad you're here Professor Oak! They haven't started, Satoshi's
stalling." Musashi said, she'd changed back into human form.
"Good boy he is . . . let's hurry."
When we got to the scene, Mr. Yamaga was preparing to send out his
pokemon.
"Don't you dare send that pokemon out Jerry!"
"Why Gary?"
"You know you'll break the rule of using pokemon to resolve personal
conflicts if you do."
"That pokemon's a killer!"
"Raptor? I think not. His mother was the one killing your livestock.
And you've already dealt with the consequences of killing her without my
permission or that of the Pokemon Control."
Phew, the situation was defused. For now that is, I had a feeling he
wouldn't let this go.
~~~~~~Satoshi's POV~~~~~~
It's been almost a month since the incident at the beach with Mr.
Yamaga.
I shook my head, this wasn't good. It was too quiet. I measured
Raptor's height, he's almost three feet high now. Geez he's gonna grow
to be bigger than me!
Well, no surprise I guess. A lot of people and pokemon are bigger than I
am.
There was a knock at the door.
"C'mon Raptor, let's see who it is."
I opened the door. And nearly froze.
It was officer Jenny.
"I have a summons for you Satoshi, you have to appear in court next
week. Good luck."
"Thanks officer Jenny." I said weakly. She nodded.
"He's very cute, I hope you're allowed to keep him and train him well."
"Me too."
We said good bye and I closed the door.
"Damn!" I muttered.
He gave a worried chirp, he hasn't grown out of that habit yet. Maybe he
never will.
"I'll call mom at work, then we'll find a good lawyer." He hissed at the
word, I smiled.
"Yeah, the feelings are mutual. Why don't you go out back and tell
Musashi and the others what happened while I call mom, okay?"
He nodded before jumping over the easychair and running into the back
yard. I shook my head, he could jump his own height now.
The more he grew, the more he looked like a Velociraptor from that
movie Jurassic Park. Maybe he was a descendant or something, Raptors
were said to be pretty smart.
"Are you serious Satoshi?! He's taking you to court for the right to kill
Raptor?" Musashi asked, her mouth hanging open.
"Yeah, unbelievable isn't it? Mom's on her way home from work with
the lawyer my aunts use. She'll have this all straightened out in no time
flat."
"I hope so, we only have two months of training time left."
"Okay Satoshi, Mr. Yamaga wants to kill one of your pokemon, why?"
I sighed.
"His mother was killing the livestock of him and Mr. Keero while he was
still in his shell. He thinks he's dangerous but he's not, he's just a baby
really."
"I see, and what are the circumstances which you found his egg?"
"Musashi and I were in my friend's and I old tree house when we noticed
a bad smell. Raptor's mother had made it her nest while I was on my
journey. She jumps in, there's a gunshot, she falls down dead and I see
the egg. So I stuffed it in my pack."
"And it hatched that very day?"
"Yeah, I was the first thing he saw when he hatch."
"Imprinted, I see." She leafed through her papers. "Professor Oak says
Raptor bit him."
"Yeah, he doesn't like anyone except me touching him. He didn't break
the skin, it was just a warning nip and he was about two days old."
"How old is Raptor now?"
"Two months in three days."
"Is it possible for me to meet him?"
"Sure, just don't try to touch him. He's been jumpy lately, I think he
senses my nervousness."
"Of course."
I nodded at Musashi, she opened the door and let Raptor in. He walked
in, his three inch claw tapping nervously on the floor.
"It's okay Raptor, she just wants to meet you. She's going to help us
with Mr. Yamaga."
Raptor went straight to me and nuzzled his snout in my hair.
"Umm . . . Ms. Jaega, could we have a closed courtroom? Please?"
Musashi asked as she sat down.
"It can be arranged, why?"
"My son and Musashi have a . . . condition that they don't want spread
around." Mom supplied.
"A medical condition?"
"Yes and no . . . even Professor Oak had trouble classifying it. I think he
calls it 'aquatransmorphing'." Mom said.
"May I see it then? I need to determine if it is enough for a closed
courtroom."
Mom brought in a two glasses filled with cold and warm water.
"Please, what you're about to see has to stay a secret! And it is pretty
shocking."
"I assure you have my utmost confidence."
I nodded, mom splashed us with the cold water.
"Oh my heavens!" She gasped as Musashi and I exited our clothes.
"Yes, I do believe you will get a closed courtroom for this . . . may I ask
how it happened?"
*You tell her mom, Musashi and I will get changed. You coming
Raptor?*
He jumped of the couch and followed me into the bathroom with my
clothes.
"This court will come to order!"
We all stood up, I was sweating and Raptor was clicking his middle toe.
I put a reassuring hand on him.
"Judge Umino Guiro presiding, you may all be seated." The bailiff said,
we all sat down.
"Your honour," Ms. Jaega began. "We are here today to protect the life
of an innocent pokemon who is being held responsible for the actions of
his mother. I'd like to call Professor Oak to the witness stand."
"Proceed." He nodded. Professor Oak went up to the stand and was
sworn in.
"Now, Professor. You have been around and studying pokemon your
whole life, correct?"
"Right."
"Have you ever encountered a pokemon like the defendants?"
"No."
"Alive that is, however you were brought a dead pokemon two months
ago. The mother of Raptor. Tell us, how did she die?"
"A shotgun wound to the cranium."
"So you performed an autopsy on Raptor's mother, was she a new
species?"
"She was a species that hadn't been discovered until her body was
brought to me."
"So she should have been protected. Did the one who kill her ask if he
could?"
"No, he had no permission to do what he did."
There was a low murmer among the small crowd.
"However, her offspring is alive and in the care of Satoshi Ketchum. You
have been allowed to study Raptor?"
"Yes, when Satoshi is there with me."
"And what conclusions about his species have you come to?"
"Raptor is very cunning and intelligent, as are other Psychic types. His
rate of growth averages at one foot per month, indicating a pokemon
built for survival in dangerous habitats."
"And what would you say is the relationship between Raptor and Satoshi
Ketchum? An average trainer/pokemon relationship?"
"No, it's more than that. As the first person Raptor saw when he hatched
the relationship is similar to that of a parent and child."
Another low murmer.
"No more questions for this witness your honour."
"Plaintiff, would you like to cross-examine the witness?"
"Yes your honour." He walked up to Professor Oak. "Professor Oak,
why is it the defendant must be with you when you examine Raptor? Is
he your assistant?"
"No, he is not. And Raptor is rather unco-operative without Satoshi
close to him."
"Unco-operative . . . such as biting you? Much like the first time the
defendant brought him to you?"
"Yes, Raptor has bitten me once. Not enough to break the skin even
though he could have at his age."
"I see, and how old was Raptor when he bit you?"
"Two days old."
"So, as a carnivore. Raptor had the capability of ripping flesh when he
was so young?"
"Yes."
The crowd murmered again, oh this wasn't good . . .
"No more questions for this witness your honour."
"You may be seated." Professor Oak nodded.
"The defence would like to call to the stand Musashi Rocket."
<"She'll be okay, you'll win this.">
<"What's wrong with that?">
<"Nothing to worry about then">
"Musashi, may I call you Musashi?"
"Ok . . ."
Oh man, she was really scared, the last time I'd heard her voice like that
was in the Pokemon Tower.
"Musashi, what happened the day Satoshi found Raptor's egg?"
"We were in the tree house, hoping for some time alone. We each had
brought one pokemon along for protection. Something in there smelled
really bad so Satoshi went to see what it was. I heard something below
the tree and I checked it out. When I saw it I screamed. That's when
Raptor's mother jumped in, I was preparing to call out Lupis when a gun
went off and she fell to the ground. I saw him put something in his back
pack . . ." She continued to tell what happened that day, Ms. Jaega
nodded.
"How long have you known Satoshi?"
"Since we both went to get our starting pokemon, my mom and dad had
held me back a year so I was thirteen when I got Bulbasaur."
"So almost two years now. Is Satoshi a good trainer?"
