Author's Notes: Well, what can I say? There isn't much to tell. At first I
wrote Guardian Angel as a one shot, but after a few days of thinking
about it I decided to take the next step and write this as a series.

In The Safari Zone
Chapter 23
"Prepare for trouble!"
"And make it double!"
"To make the world a place of devastation!"
"To totally control all people within our nation!"
"To annihilate all law and love!"
"To promote war and bring the devil above!"
"Diana!"
"Apollo!"
"Team Rocket will carve our destructive path!"
"So surrender now or feel our wrath!"
"CHARRRRRRRR!"
I sighed as Inferno and their Charizard faced off.
"The boss has taken quite an . . . interest in your Charizard and her
Charmeleon. You can do this the easy way and just come peacefully with
us or . . ."
Apollo snapped his fingers, about eight Rockets surrounded us.
"Or the hard way." Diana grinned as she motioned toward the other
Rockets, each holding six pokeballs.
Oh man . . . this was gonna be rough!
"Meowth, get Clefairy somewhere safe!" I hissed to him. He picked her
up and ran. I glanced at Musashi and Taiki, it was their call as well.
Well, it looked like the hard way. We'd have to pull in the big guns.
I exchanged Butterfree and Jigglypuff for Dragonair and Marowak. I
realized that this meant they would chase us more when they saw
Dragonair, but he was one of my strongest along with Inferno, Gyarados,
Banshee, Marowak and Fearow.
Musashi was sure to go with Ivysaur, Nidorina, Pidgeot, Vaporeon, Lupis
and probably Raticate.
The three of us pulled out our pokeballs.
"So it's the hard way then, excellent. Get them!" Diana shouted.
And thus began a battle royale.
~~~~~~Inferno's POV~~~~~~
With half an ear I heard the battle behind me. But my concentration was
on the Charizard I was currently fighting.
We both took to the air, I was confident that Satoshi's pokemon would
keep him out of danger until I won this little scuffle.
"Dragon Rage!" I blinked and glanced down. Then I saw all the
Rockets.
That was dishonourable! They were out numbered at least three to one!
And if Satoshi was forced to use Dragonair things were pretty bad. I
turned to land and prepare to fight.
*You would run from our battle coward?!* My previously forgotten
opponent screamed. I stiffened.
Honour or Satoshi?
For most Charizards the decision would be easy, they'd choose honour.
But I was bound by my Oath to protect Satoshi, no matter what.
Honour, my fight with my current opponent.
Satoshi, my friend, my trainer, my . . . Brother.
I closed my eyes before I snapped them open again.
*I'm coming Satoshi!* I yelled as I dove for the battle below.
~~~~~~Musashi's POV~~~~~~
I recalled Ivysaur, she'd been able to take out five pokemon before she
fainted. I quickly exchanged her for Arbok.
We were in way over our heads. Even if we won this battle they'd only
come back with more Team Rocket members. And if worse came to
worse me and Satoshi would have to douse ourselves with water and join
the fight. I saw Satoshi recall Dragonair, his Dragon Rage attacks had
taken out a fair amount of pokemon. But it had been too much for him to
do alone.
He exchanged him for Weepinbell.
Where was that blasted Inferno?! Oh yes, he decided to fight the other
Charizard.
"No Vaporeon!" I shouted as I recalled her and sent out Sandshrew
while I sent her back to Pallet. I only had 3 fresh pokemon left, I wasn't
too sure how many Satoshi had left. I glanced at the Rockets, each of
them pulled out another six pokemon and sent them into the fight.
I felt like crying.
Taiki and Satoshi's face totally drained of blood, I'm pretty sure mine did
too.
Off to the side I saw Inferno fighting his way through the mess of
pokemon to get to us.
About time he won that battle!
My jaw dropped when I saw the other Charizard still standing and
watching Inferno with a ticked off yet thoughtful expression. I recalled
Clefairy and sent out Pikachu.
Taiki may have had more pokemon, but ours were a little stronger.
Oh this was bad, very bad.
I had a sinking feeling we weren't gonna win this one . . . Who knew
how many pokemon they had at their disposal?
"Clefairy clefairy clefairy clefairy clefairy clefairy clefairy
CLEFAIIRRRRYYYY!"
Boom! All of the Rockets and their pokemon were sent into the horizon.
Satoshi, Inferno, Taiki and I whirled.
"Clefairy!" Satoshi shouted as he picked her up and cradled her.
"What was that?!" Taiki shouted.
"Metronome . . ." Meowth answered, his jaw still on the ground.
"Shhhh . . . it'll be alright Clefairy. Thank you for saving us." Satoshi
whispered.
Oh yes, I liked Satoshi. In that moment it hit me.
I didn't just like him . . . I had a crush on him!
~~~~~~Satoshi's POV~~~~~~
Oh yes, we had a problem now. If boss Rocket wants Inferno as badly as
Apollo had suggested . . . I shuddered, trying not to think of the troubles
ahead.
Maybe we should just go home . . .
No, no way! I'm not a coward! Musashi, Taiki and I can handle a few
Rockets, right?
We walked on, Inferno was in his pokeball. So was Clefairy.
The three of us stopped in front of a huge gate.
"Hey! It's the Safari Zone!" Musashi exclaimed. To the left of the gate
was the Pokemon Centre/Warden's office.
Once we were inside and handed all our pokemon to Nurse Joy, we
walked to the Warden's office to get the Safari Balls and ticket to let us
be able to enter the Zone without any trouble.
"Safari Ball go!" The Tauros Taiki was after got caught.
I personally was after a Mankey. I'm not sure what Musashi was after,
probably a Cubone. We'd heard rumours that there was one in here.
Ah ha! There was one!
"You're mine Mankey! Safari Ball go!"
"Key?"
One . . .
Two . . .
Three!
"Yes!"
The ball vanished to the Warden's office, we'd get our pokemon once we
left the Safari Zone.
"Oh look at this beautiful little cove!" Taiki and I went to look at what
Musashi was looking at. She pulled out her fishing rod and cast it into the
water. I shrugged and simply laid down on the sand to relax. The area
was pretty peaceful.
"I got something!" She began reeling in her catch.
"Dra!"
Whoa! A Seadra! I sat up to watch.
"Go Safari Ball!"
"Nice going Musashi."
Clamp.
"Yeeeooowwww!"
I turned and glared at the Shellder that had just clamped onto my butt. I
hit it with a Safari Ball and caught the little bugger.
Man, my butt was gonna be sore for awhile.
~~~~~~Musashi's POV~~~~~~
I giggled.
You must admit, it's not everyday you see a Shellder clamp onto the rear
of your crush.
"Prepare for trouble!"

Oh no . . . they had to choose to pop up now! Especially since all our
pokemon were still in the Pokemon Centre after the last battle.
There was really only one thing to do in a situation like this . . .
"RUN!!"
Got it in one Taiki.
We ran.
~~~~~~Inferno's POV~~~~~~
It was just chance I happened to look out the window.
It's a good thing I did too.
*Warden!*
He looked up from his paperwork, I pointed frantically out the window. I
would've gone to help him the thing is no pokemon who have a trainer
are allowed in the Safari Zone.
When he saw what I did he got this huge tranquillizer gun.
Of course Team Rocket wouldn't know that.
Satoshi, Taiki and Musashi ran in, the warden calmly walked outside.
Once Team Rocket got an eyeful of the tranq gun they ran.
I laughed.
"So, are you finished your trip in the Safari Zone?"
"Yeah, I got what I came for. Including a sore butt." Satoshi added
under his breath.
"You should've see it Inferno! A Shellder clamped right onto him!"
Taiki whispered in my ear, I chuckled at the mental image it produced.
"I choose you, Shellder and Mankey!"
"Shellder!"
"Mankey!"
"I'm your new trainer, my name's Satoshi."
*Sorry for . . . well, you know.* I translated for Satoshi. He smiled and
patted Shellder's shell.
*Hi! I'm Mankey! Need me to fight? I'm there!* Satoshi laughed and
scratched behind her ear.
"Nah, not yet Mankey. You'll get your chance though while we're
training."
We waved good bye to the Warden and began following Meowth to
Fushia Gym since he knew the way.
Meowth was chatting with Clefairy, Satoshi, Taiki and Musashi were
talking about how they were going to win the Soul Badge.
And me? I was thinking about fiery amber eyes.
