Sorry but this is the only picture I have of Marlena and Eugene. You’re probably wondering why we included Eugene. Well first of all I love Eugene. Please come back Gene! Marlena needs you!

Eugene and Marlena met while he was a patient of hers during the Salem Strangler saga. Eugene has psychic powers which saved Marlena’s life on several occasions. Eugene became one of Marlena’s best friends. Gene has always been there for Marlena especially during the Salem Slasher Case. Tony’s indentical cousin Andre DiMera was running around Salem committing murders with a mask on to make himself look like Roman Brady. Roman eventually had to fake his own death to prove his own innocence. This is where Gene steps in! See Marlena found out that she was six weeks pregnant but Roman had been dead for eight weeks. Everyone in town including Dr. Horton wanted to know who the father was.
Gene stepped in and saved the day by proclaiming that he was the father of Marlena’s baby. Dr. Horton then insisted that they marry. Gene and Marlena were married in a very hurried ceremony at Gene’s place. Once it was revealed that Roman was not dead the marriage was declared invalid.

Eventually Roman was cleared of the murders thanks to Gene. So to thank Gene, Marlena and Roman decided that they would name one of the twins after Eugene. After Marlena thought about it for a while she decided that she didn't like the name so they decided to give their daughter Samantha the middle name Gene as a compromise.
