Hitomi and Allen are still on the bridge.  Their lips part, and their hair is soaked from the rain, which has abated.  Hitomi looks rather uneasy about the whole situation, but Allen doesn't seem to care.  She turns away from him...
Hitomi: "Umm... I ..."
Allen: "Hitomi."
However, she then notices who else is there, and witnessed the entire travesty.  Thus, Van sports one of the most adorably pathetic faces I've yet seen.  He slowly turns away, then runs off.  Hitomi makes a move to go to him, but Allen holds her shoulders
Hitomi: "Van..."
Thus the two are left alone on the bridge

Van has returned to the windmill, and is quite listless
Merle: "Geez, you got drenched."
She pulls off his shirt and begins to towel him off.  Van just sits there, staring into the fire
Merle: "That's why I told you to leave a girl like her alone."

Back at the palace, Allen escorts Hitomi back to her room
Hitomi: "Well, later, then."
Allen: "Hitomi, you'd better go to bed early, so you don't catch cold.  Princess Millerna's marriage ceremony is tomorrow.  Excuse me."
Hitomi just stands against the door to her room and thinks

The welders are at work in Zaibach.  However, this does little to dissuade a pair of felines from training.  They are equipped in fencing gear (well, just the masks, actually), and are practicing with daggers rather than foils.  After a few swipes, Eriya knocks Naria's dagger away.  Naria backhands Eriya and pins her to the floor until Eriya cries Uncle.  Naria gets up, while Eriya remains on the ground
Naria: "That was close.  You almost won."
Eriya: "Damn it.  But my luck was stronger last time."
Referring to when she got to play kissy-face with Folken
Eriya: "Even now..."
Naria: "Damn it!"
Naria crawls over to her sister and hovers over her in a rather... um... edit-worthy manner
Naria: "What's with this cheeky way of talking?"
Eriya: "But I was the winner, don't you see?"
Naria: "Say what?"
She lowers herself so she's lying right on top of Eriya o_O
Naria: "Were Lord Folken's lips warm?  Let me feel it."
She leans in to get an "indirect" kiss
Eriya: "H...hey!"
Naria thinks better of her move and lays completely down, burying her face in Eriya's neck
Eriya: "Naria..."
Naria: "I want Lord Folken's love."
Eriya: "I realize now... if we hadn't kissed, my dream wouldn't have been destroyed.  Although Lord Folken provides us compassion, I didn't feel love."
The two lay on the floor next to each other
Naria: "But we're happy, aren't we?"
Eriya: "Sure."
They flash back to when they were children, being hunted by a mob
Naira: "Our lives were supposed to end at that moment."
Chains and pitchforks are hurled at them, and they are thrown off a cliff.  However, a winged man flies down and catches them.  He puts them down at the bottom, and they back away in fear, growling.  They then lunge out and bite his outstreched hand.
~Folken~: "Such a pity.  Your lives must have been hard.  I'll give you new names."
They let go of his hand
~Folken~: "As of today, you are reborn, to lead more fortunate lives."
Naria: "We were supposed to have good fortune."
Eriya: "But we haven't defeated the Dragon."
Folken: "It appears impossible to surpass the strength of his fortune at your current fortune level."
Folken's image is reflected in one of the blades lying on the ground
Both: "Lord Folken!"
We weren't doing anything questionable!
Folken: "Naria, Eriya, if you wish, I can give you an ever stronger fortune.  Absolutely uncomparable fortune that no one can surpass."

Back at the palace, Millerna is trying to figure out what to wear
Millerna: "This won't work, either... Strange, I know there's a more suitable one."
She's got a ton of baubles and jewelry, she must be insanely picky.  She glances over at her wedding dress, then notices a table start to move.  She looks at it, and it stops.  Naturally, when she looks away, it starts moving again.  Since it's not much of a speedy table, she catches it easily, revealing the Mole Man underneath
Millerna: "Mr. Mole!"
He comes out from under the table, embarrassed
Mole: "Well, how can I put this... you seem to have lost your usual shining appearance, so I was worried."
He then reaches for her neck
Millerna: "H.. hey!"
However, he was just attaching a necklace that he had "aquired"
Millerna: "This is...!"
Mole: "There're tons of valuables, but there's only one that suits you.... I guess."

Folken is off in a lab.  So what sort of wacky thing is he up to this time?
Folken: "I'll replace your blood with Fortunate Bood."
Naria: "Fortunate Blood?"
Folken: "From Lord Dornkirk's studies, we chose people with better fortune and survivability from all over Zaibach.  Then we sampled fortunate DNA from their cells and mixed them, using the Fate Redirector to create artificial blood."
And thus they mapped the human genome decades before we ever did on Earth :P.  Naria and Eriya are lying on tables, wearing hospital gowns.
Folken: "The risk is high.  Even the smallest mistake will..."
Naria: "I'm sure it'll be alright."
Eriya: "Because we're fortunate."
Folken raises his arm and the machine starts, replacing the sisters' blood with Fortunate Blood (and thus, with what they have leftover, they can do transfusions on cat people for years to come)

Back in Asturia, wedding preparations are being made in the city square
Hitomi: "I wonder if it's all right for Millerna..."
Hitomi looks over the balcony at Allen, who is in the square, managing the preparations.  She touches her lip and remembers the kiss, and Van's reaction to it (aah!  The cute face again!).  She blushes and sighs.  However, her thoughts are interrupted by Millerna
Millerna: "Hitomi."
She spins around, playing the "I'm-innoncently-not-thinking-of-Allen" girl
Hitomi: "Millerna."
Millerna: "Say, Hitomi..."
What does she want?  Let's follow and find out
Millerna: "Not  now.  But, I'm not sure if I should live with Dryden."
Hitomi: "Such a.. it sounds like a Narita divorce."
Millerna: "Narita divorce...?"
Hitomi: "In other words, it's just marriage blues."
Millerna: "Marriage blues...?"
Hitomi: "Anyway, I don't read fortunes anymore."
Millerna: "Please, read my fortune to help me."
Hitomi: "What if it results in a bad fortune again?"
Millerna: "Whatever the outcome, I'll trust it, so..."
Well, she actually complies.  The cards are laid out, and Hitomi does a tarot reading after a long absence of doing so
Hitomi: "Three of Serpents.... The Hanged Man... Moon... (aside) 'Tension, Sacrifice, and Hesitation.'  As I thought, she's anxious about this marriage of convenience, and she wants to be free from pressure. (out loud) You're nervous because your marriage has been suddenly decided after various circumstances.  But you shouldn't be shortsighted.  Ace of Birds... Five of Fish... The Demon and Five of Beasts... (aside again) If she proceeds with this marriage, she'll grieve because of someone close and get involved in some sort of trouble."
Millerna: "Hitomi...?"
Hitomi: "There'll be some minor difficulties in your married life, and..."
She turns the last card
Hitomi: "Lovers...?!"
She has an image of Allen and Millerna together.  She falters and drops the cards
Hitomi: "What was that?"
Millerna: "What's wrong?"
Hitomi stays quiet and confused, but has that Allen/Millerna image again.  She shakes her head to rid herself of it.  She then looks down at the card in her hand
Hitomi: "The Falling Tower...?  That means this marriage is wrong.  If I tell her this result, I'm sure she'll cancel the marriage.  But if she does..."
Allen will have someone else to make kissy-face to.  Hitomi looks down at the cards she dropped in her lap.  One is face-up
Hitomi: "L'Imperatore?  The sign of fortune.  If I lean towards that card, I might be able to draw its fortune."
She holds both cards in her hands, and her pendant sways over them
Hitomi: "That's right.  If the power of my wish works, I should be able to sraw a better future.  I'm sorry, but if I wish strongly, it should be possible to change fate."
However, she cheats and holds the L'Imperatore card over the Falling Tower, so it'll be picked no matter what :P.  She then places it on the table
Hitomi: "Don't worry.  This card indicates good fortune.  That means you'll be happy in your marriage to Dryden."
Millerna: "Happy... with Dryden..."
She doesn't seem too convinced

The marriage gets the go-ahead.  The channel is laden with flowers, and people gather on the banks.  Millerna sits in the back of a gondola, while Dryden is at the fron (clean shaven, and with his hair down!).  Van and Merle have decided not to come, but are watching from the top of the windmill.  The red-feathered hat guys hold up their swords in a salute, as do Allen and the other Knights Caeli.  Hitomi is hanging out with the Crusade crew, and has the L'Imperatore card with her
Hitomi: "Millerna, grasp for good fortune."
Kio: "What's that?"
Hitomi: "A good luck charm."
Gaddess: "'Good luck charm?'"
Hitomi: "To hope that Millerna and Dryden will be happy."
At the altar, the priest lowers a staff between Millerna and Dryden and speaks.  "Mawage.  Mawage is whot bwings us togevah today..." :P
Priest: "Embraced by the sun, moon, and this rich land of wind and water, sagacious children of Asturia, today on this holy day, a new..."

Ah, yeah, that's not nearly as good as the Impressive Clergyman could do :P.  Anyway, Dornkirk's off on his whining spree again
Dornkirk: "Upon the separation of the Dragon and the girl, the probability density has stabilized.  Now is the greatest opportunity to capture Hitomi Kanzaki, the key to fate redirection."
Folken: "But what if the Dragon becomes influential again?"
Dorkirk: "If that happens, dispose of the Dragon."
Naria: "Don't worry, Lord Folken.  Our fortune is now unequalled."
Eriya: "We'll capture Hitomi Kanzaki."
Aaaah!  It's the lava lamps again!  The Zaibach capital starts glowing, as do the blood veins in the sisters' necks

And, out at the windmill, Escaflowne has decided to get a mind of it's own and just opens up the cockpit for the heck of it.

And... Hitomi has a Vision of Impending Doom(tm).  She sees Asturia destroyed
Hitomi: "Oh no..."
And it starts looking like that Falling Tower card
Hitomi: "No... it's just like the original reading..."
However, everyone cheers as Millerna and Dryden exchange rings
Teo: "That tomboyish princess is now a married woman."
And Hitomi sees the vision again
Hitomi: "No.  This marriage mustn't..."
She runs out of the crowd
Gaddess: "H...hey!"

And, back at the windmill, Escaflowne's energist shoots out a beam that reveals a Zaibach floating fortress (previously cloaked) hovering over the city
Van: "That's my brother's..."
Aw, and the Leopard sisters were just leaving, too
Eriya: "They found us."
Naria: "The Dragon revealed itself.  Our fortune has definitely been enhanced."

Hitomi runs up the aisle like a panicked flower girl
Hitomi: "Wait!"
Allen: "Hitomi..."
Dryden and Millerna lean in to kiss
Hitomi: "Don't!"
However, it is not to be, as she trips on the carpet
Hitomi: "You mustn't kiss!"
Too late.  Immediately after doing so, the sky goes dark.  The Zaibach floating fortrees has positioned itself to cover the sun (mood lighting, no doubt :P)
Millerna: "What?"
Dryden: "An eclipse at a time like this?"
Priest: "How ominous."
Naria and Eriya come flying down in their guymelefs, and lo and behold, "Epistle" starts playing again.  With that music going, you know this can't be good
Knight: "What's going on?"
Soldier: "Enemy attack!  Enemy attack!"
What is this, Gundam Wing?  :P
Allen: "Zaibach!"
Dryden picks up Millerna and makes a run for safety
Dryden: "Millerna!"
Aston: "Why is Zaibach...?"
The Red-Feathered Hat Guys ready a massive crossbow with many arrows
R-FHG: "Melefs are moving out!"
Like he said, the Asturian guymelefs are on the move

Meanwhile there's a display that shows... something.  Actually, it looks like a bunch of sperm trying to converge on a strand of DNA.  I'm serious, that's what it looks like!  Here, I'll make a picture...  Anyway, Folken watches this monitor intently.  The lava lamps glow, but the little spermy things swim away from the DNA.

At this point, everyone's equipment conveniently breaks at once.  Even Scherezade isn't immune
Allen: "Malfunction...?!  At a time like this...?!"
There is convenient lightning to suddenly darken the mood.  One of the bolts hits one of Asturia's towers, and it falls; conveniently on top of Millerna and Dryden.  Dryden uses himself as a shield over Millerna.  Meanwhile, the Leopard guymelefs are still floating around.  But wait!  Escaflowne to the rescue.  Mr. Dragon comes flying in.
Van: "The castle is..."
However, Eriya pops up behind him
Van: "Not you guys again."
Eriya: "I wont let you get close to Hitomi."
She then shoots a bunch of liquid metal missiles.  Van has to dive to dodge.  Esca-dragon pulls out its sword again and goes chasing after her.  Van lands on top of Eriya's guymelef, but at that point, the little sperm monitor flickers again, and he is unable to hit her with his sword (.... Man, did I word that badly -_-*).  Eriya tosses him off
Van: "What..?"
And at this point, Escaflowne also seems to lose power, and just kinda falls like a rock towards the ground
Eriya: "This is the power of our enhanced fortune!"
In the city rubble, Dryden and Millerna find Hitomi.  Dryden is injured
Hitomi: "Dryden!"
Millerna: "Hitomi."
Hitomi: "Are you all right?"
Millerna: "Come on."
Hitomi lends her aid in helping Dryden walk.  Meanwhile, Escaflowne is still falling.  Millerna tears off her sleeve to help bandage Dryden
Dryden: "Damn, how pathetic."
Hitomi: "Dryden."
Millerna: "That should do it for now."
At that point, Escaflowne comes crashing to the ground beside them
Hitomi: "Escaflowne!"
Van is wrestling for control, as the dragon is thrashing wildly.  Allen, Gaddess, and some random soldiers are watching this
Allen: "Van!"
The Leopard sisters land on either side of Escaflowne, trapping it.  Escaflowne's energist stops glowing, and it just collapses
Allen: "No!"
Then... the voice of God speaks!  Well, it's a booming voice from the sky
Folken: "From the Zaibach soldiers with enhanced fortune, to the people of Asturia: I repeat, from the Zaibach soldiers with enhanced fortune, to the people of Asturia: ..."
Van: "Brother..."
Hitomi: "Soldiers with enhanced fortune...?  Fortune..."
Folken: "...resistance is futile."
Jeez, now he's Borg
Hitomi: "Fortune... could it be because of this card?"
Folken: "If you go against our fortune, you'll definitely suffer from misfortune."
Hitomi: "Because I used this card to switch fate... Because I switched fates, this happened."
Folken: "We demand only one thing.  The girl from the Mystic Moon, Hitomi Kanzaki."
Van: "What?"
Yeah, I'm saying "What?" too.  To the background music.  Now it's "Chain", my other favorite.  Wow, both in one episode.  Spiff
Folken: "If you do not want to suffer further misfortune, hand over Hitomi Kanzaki at once."
Hitomi: "No..."
Dryden: "No, you shouldn't go, Hitomi...!"
Millerna: "Dryden!"
Hitomi: "Because I... because I falsely read this fortune..."
Millerna: "Falsely read...?"
Hitomi: "It showed that his marriage would go bad.  But I thought I could change... I thought I could change it with the power of a wish."
Millerna: "What do you mean?"
Hitomi: "The man most suitable for you is actually... Allen."
So what is Dryden, chopped liver?
Hitomi: "But, I love Allen, so I didn't want to let go of my feelings.  I changed the result of the fortune telling and switched fates."
Millerna: "Hitomi..."
Hitomi: "Everything is my fault."
She then stands up
Millerna: "Hitomi."
She then jumps over the rubble and runs out
Millerna: "Hitomi!  Dryden.... Dryden, hang on!"
Hitomi runs out into the middle of everything and makes herself a standing target, arms outstretched
Hitomi: "I'm here!"
Allen: "What the...?"
Hitomi: "I'm the girl from the Mystic Moon, Hitomi Kanzaki!"
The Leopard sisters turn their attention to her instead...
