"One Wedding & One Funeral? Part 1"

INTRODUCTION: Well, here we are. Approximately 6 months ago I started writing fan fictions for the mailing list Bold-L. And now, 6 months later, the very first ongoing, fan-written, text-only soap to ever grace the pages of the World Wide Web. Please keep in mind that the events that happen in Brooke and Thorne have no bearing or relation to what's going on in current episodes of the Bold and the Beautiful. (Those network types have their own agendas.) So sit back, grab a soda, and get ready to read the first instalment in my answer to life's most elusive question:

What if...?

[SCENE: Thorne is driving his car to a chapel...

He just had that message from his father telling him to come right away to the chapel... that there is a big surprise waiting for him...

Thorne has a smile on his face.

He thinks "how romantic! Dad and Mother will get married again now that she can walk!"

Brooke is driving to the same chapel... She got a message from Eric telling her that her presence was requested immediately.

She also has a smile on her face.

She thinks that Eric and Steph are having a second wedding. She is happy because this time they invited her...]

BROOKE: [thinking] after all, may be it's a way to show me that they will give Thorne and me a chance to be a part of this family.

[SCENE: Brooke arrives at the church. She enters it. She is greeted by Eric wearing a tuxedo.]

BROOKE: Well hello Eric, you just look FABULOUS!

ERIC: Hello Brooke, glad you could make it.

BROOKE: Oh I wouldn't have missed it for anything in the world...

[Brooke looks around her... there is Ridge, there is Taylor... both avoid her eyes... to Brooke's surprise there also is Sally, Myles, Kimberly and Darla.

Eric shows Brooke her seat.]

[ SCENE: Thorne arrives. He is late.

As he enters he is greeted by his dad. They hug. While hugging Thorne sees Brooke. First he is surprised then he realizes that she couldn't know that the wedding was about to take place here...So he guesses that she has been invited and gives her a huge smile... She smiles back...

Ridge and Taylor are observing them...

Taylor tries to stand up but Ridge makes her sit... ]

TAYLOR: Ridge! I don't like this at all... we shouldn't be doing that...

RIDGE: Taylor... we must do what's best for mother...

ERIC: [to Thorne] Thorne, go stand with Ridge in front of the altar while I go checking on the bride...

THORNE: [thinking] Everything is just perfect... I will stand for father like I did in the hospital room.

[ Eric comes back and joins his two sons... ]

The music starts.

[OPENING CREDITS: As the first scene fades out, the opening guitar riff of "Oh! Darling" (track
4 on Abbey Road, by the Beatles) strums. The opening verse to the song plays while the show's
opening sequence starts... Winsor Harmon’s name floats lazily across the screen from right to left,
as KKL's name floats from left to right. There are pics from the real B&B tv show appearing successively on the screen: Brooke and Thorne kissing for the first time, Brooke in a teddy with Macy and Thorne, Stephanie at Big Bear trying to strangle Brooke, Thorne bending over his mother when she had her stroke, Eric, Ridge and Thorne arguing and Thorne pushing Taylor out of Ridge’s office and then holding Brooke. Meanwhile, "Oh! Darling" is nearing the end of the first verse, and the Brooke and Thorne logo has begun to draw itself on the screen. When the logo is complete, it glistens (a la the Cheers logo). The song cuts to the beginning of the final verse ("Believe me, darlin'") and the screen fades to... ]

[SCENE: Stephanie walks in wearing a pale pink suit and has a bouquet in her hands... Thorne smiles to Eric.

Stephanie arrives at the altar but she does not stop there and goes to the "maid of honour" place...

Thorne is totally clueless.

Then the REAL wedding music starts and we see Macy in a wedding dress entering the church.

Thorne and Brooke are totally stunned and looks quickly at each other...

While Macy walks, Eric has walked behind Thorne letting him at the place of the groom...

Macy has tears in her eyes... When she arrives at the altar she takes Thorne's hand... and the priest begins to perform the ceremony.]

PRIEST: We are here today to…

[Thorne is SO astonished that he can't do or say anything for a few seconds...

And during these seconds Brooke seeing no reaction from him runs out crying...

Taylor follows her.]

In Front of the Church. Taylor tries to prevent Brooke from leaving...]

TAYLOR: Brooke, wait! I don’t think you should drive right now… You are too upset… I'm so sorry... I had no idea until Ridge and I arrived at the church...

BROOKE: [crying] I can't believe it! How could he do that to me??? He swore he loved me"

TAYLOR: Brooke Brooke, calm down! He didn't know! I promise you he had no idea!

BROOKE: How could I believe you when I saw it by my own eyes?

[Brooke begins to leave, still crying, Taylor grabs her arm but she manages to leave anyway...]

[ SCENE: Taylor enters the church with tears rolling down her cheeks...

Thorne when he hears the door turns hoping that it is Brooke...

Taylor reaches to Ridge and they both step aside. ]

TAYLOR: Ridge, give me the keys of the car…

RIDGE: why?

TAYLOR: [impatient] Oh please Ridge give me the keys... I don't have time to discuss this with you

RIDGE: [handing the keys] it's Brooke isn't it?

[Taylor looks at him really angry and leaves without saying a word...]

[During this scene the minister was going on his speech about marriage. But Thorne was not listening...

He was listening to Ridge and Taylor... he looks pretty upset and worried.

He looks around him... Steph smiles to him... Then he turns to Macy and he sees her eyes full of love and emotions...

He turns to Ridge and sees that Ridge isn't smiling and looks concerned.]

Brooke's house.

[ SCENE: Brooke is in the living room. She is crying... silently...

On the table before her she has spread little white pills... a lot of them...

She is crashing them to turn them into a powder.

She pours herself a glass of water and puts the powder in it.

She drinks.

She goes to the sofa and sit holding a picture of Thorne and her against her heart...]

Still at Brooke's house.

[ SCENE: Taylor arrives. She doesn't even knock...

She sees Brooke crying on the sofa... Brooke seems to be much quieter than at the church and Taylor is relieved.

Taylor sits by Brooke.]

TAYLOR: I know this is difficult for you Brooke... But it is just right now... I am sure that with a little time you will find enough strength in you to go on... You are so strong! I, better than anyone, know that...

BROOKE: You don't understand Taylor... With Thorne, it was different...

TAYLOR: What do you mean?

BROOKE: It was not like with Ridge... With Thorne I thought I had security, I had a friend and a lover... He meant the world to me.

TAYLOR: Brooke, you haven't lost everything... You still have your children.

BROOKE: Rick is married and Bridget is in school in Switzerland... They don't need me anymore.

TAYLOR: Don't speak like that... They will always need their mother.

BROOKE: Anyway it's too late now... And right now I need some rest... All I want is to fall asleep.

TAYLOR: All right, Brooke... You look really tired... Do you want me to stay here while you get some sleep.

BROOKE: No thank you Taylor, I appreciate but I prefer to stay alone.

TAYLOR: I understand.

[Taylor starts to leave and sees the box of the pills on the table. She grabs it nervously and sees it's empty.]

TAYLOR: [worried] Brooke did you take one of those?

BROOKE [almost sleeping]Yes, I wanted to get some rest... to stop thinking about this... it hurts too much.

[Brooke falls completely asleep.

Taylor shakes her trying to wake her up]

TAYLOR: [yelling] Brooke !!! Brooke!!! how many were there left???? Brooke???

The church...

[SCENE: We have Ridge and Eric talking in one corner and Steph Macy and her family in another.]

STEPH: Macy! he must have said something... you can't leave your own wedding without saying anything!

MACY: [visibly upset and totally clueless] I don't understand he was standing by my side... He seemed very serious and suddenly he just said: "I'm sorry I have to go" and that was it! he left!

SALLY: I am sure he had a good reason honey... I'm sure he'll be back in no time...

MACY: [still clueless] you must be right!

PRIEST: Is the ceremony cancelled or should we wait for the groom's return?

In the other corner

RIDGE: Dad, we shouldn't have done that...

ERIC: We had to... it was for your mother's own good

RIDGE: but we should have at least asked for his agreement...

ERIC: where do you think he went?

RIDGE: Brooke's of course... what do you think?

ERIC: Yes... may be we just managed to get them closer while we wanted the opposite...

RIDGE: I would never have thought that he would leave Macy like this in the middle of the ceremony...

ERIC: me neither... Brooke makes him do whatever she wants of him...

RIDGE: did you see her leave?

ERIC: no

RIDGE: she looked pretty upset... and actually Taylor was upset too...

ERIC: where is she by the way?

RIDGE: I think she's gone to Brooke's house to see if she was ok... I think she is pretty angry at us... She even wanted to warn them before the beginning of the wedding...

Still at the church

[Ridge is waiting in the entrance while Eric goes to speak to the others.]

ERIC: Ridge and I are leaving...

STEPH: what? now? don't you wait for Thorne's to be back?

ERIC: actually I'm going to see him.

MACY: you know where he's gone????

ERIC: I have an idea yes...

Brooke's house

THORNE: [bursting into the house shouting] Brooke????

[He enters the living room and sees Brooke on the sofa while Taylor who is near the phone turns to him...

Thorne first doesn't see that Taylor is more upset than she should.

He sits on the sofa and gently tries to wake Brooke up...]

THORNE: Brooke honey wake up... It's me Thorne... I swear honey I knew nothing about this... I won't marry Macy... I love you hon...

BROOKE: [speaking so low that Thorne has to get closer to hear her] Thorne.... I love you.

THORNE: [smiling and hugging her] I love you too.

[He does not realize that Brooke's arms don't hug him back...]

TAYLOR: Thorne, keep talking to her, I beg you please!

[Thorne looks at her not understanding...]

TAYLOR: [pointing the empty box on the table] I've called for an ambulance... I think we...

THORNE: [yelling and shaking Brooke] Brooke!!! No !!!! What have you done??? Answer me please!!! Brooke???

Still at Brooke's house

TAYLOR: Thorne you must keep her awake until the ambulance comes. Make her talk... we're going to make her walk too... We must keep her awake...

[They try to make her stand up... They are both holding her... After they made her walk a little she seems to regain consciousness.]

THORNE: honey, you're gonna be ok... I promise...

BROOKE: Thorne...?

THORNE: yes honey it's me, talk to me.

BROOKE: [barely able to talk] Macy? you...

THORNE: no I didn't marry Macy... I love YOU and we're going to get married as soon as possible.

BROOKE: is that right Thorne?

THORNE: We're gonna have the most romantic wedding you ever dreamt of.

[Brooke weakly smiles...]

At the church

MACY: I knew it was not a good idea.

STEPH: what dear?

MACY: to surprise Thorne with this wedding

STEPH: What do you mean???? Thorne didn't know you wanted to marry him here and now???

MACY: Well... I thought that would be a good surprise...

SALLY: [trying to cheer her up] I'm sure it was... There must be a reason why he left like this...

MACY: yes there must be.

MYLES to Kimberly: You sister should not marry this Forrester... Can you believe this guy? Leaving without giving an explanation...

KIMBERLY: Macy loves so much Thorne Dad... He must love her too...

[Myles looks rather angry...]

At Brooke's house

[Taylor is taking car keys out of her purse.

Eric and Ridge enter.]

ERIC: Where are they?

TAYLOR: They are gone

RIDGE: What? Where? Why are you here?

TAYLOR: I was about to leave too.

ERIC: Taylor! Tell me where my son is! How could he leave Macy like that?

TAYLOR: I guess that you two are pretty disappointed that your little plan didn't work

RIDGE: Look Taylor we'll talk about this later. Now we need to find Thorne and bring him back to the church

TAYLOR: you can't be serious... Don't you think you've done enough for one day?

ERIC: Taylor will you please tell us where they've gone?

TAYLOR: why don't you come with me? I was about to join them... You need to see by yourselves what you two have done...
