R.El-Mallawany is a Professor of  Solid State Physics at the Physics Dept., Faculty of Science, Menofia Univ., EGYPT since (1994) and began his career in Solid State Physics from (1973) when he graduated B.Sc.(Alexandria Univ. ).   Also, he finished his M.Sc.  and Ph.D. in  Solid State Physics  in (1978) and  (1986).   He has received the following fellowship:

He teaches Physics for under and postgraduate students nearly  over  20 Years.   Also, he is advisor & examiner  for 25  Ph.D. & M.Sc. thesis  at  the  Egyptian  and Arab Universities.  He served as a Research Group Leader for semiconducting tellurite glasses at Menofia Univ.  In the last couple of decades the broad objective of  Professor El-Mallawany was to develop New Non-Crystalline Solids “Semiconducting Tellurite Glasses by  modifying  it with rare earth  and transition metal ions to get  a unique properties.   The  research  activities were focused on the coming physical properties: Elastic & Anelastic, Optical, Electrical, Thermal  and Vibrational have been  published in over  than  50 international paper.   The study of the  physical properties of the non crystalline solid is continuing to attract the attention of many  researchers.  This is not only because of the mummeries technical application of  semiconducting glasses, but also because of the fundamental interest in understanding the microscopic structure.   Since 1986 he presented a papers and served as session chair,  member  of the International Advisory Committee and Egyptian delegate in the annual international conferences and congresses.

Last ten years El-Mallawany has been invited to gives several seminars in the area of expertise at US Air Force Facilities 1993 &1998: Rome Lab at Massachusetts, center for Glass Research, Alfred Univ., New York  and Materials Sci. & Eng. Dept., Univ. of  Florida (www.ehis.navy.mil /europram/julaug98/WOScal.htm).   Also, he presented  a talk  about  “Tellurite  Glasses” at the 8th International  Sym. on  Halide  Glasses, France 1992.   He is a member of Materials Research Society, USA,1990 & Arab Materials Science Society, Former,1990.    Also, he selected  by  the International  Encyclopedia “Who’s Who in the World” 16th  Edition.     He is the author the book “ Physics  of  Solid  Material ”, 1996 (Arabic) , and shared in translation of the Arabic copy  of  “ The World Book Encyclopedia”, the Arabic copy of  “Scientific American”.     He is a reviewer & contributing Editor at: American Ceramic Society, USA, J. Materials  Science, UK, Egyptian Solid State Phys. ,  Journal and African Correspondent of  åkiant journal of Glass and considered one of the "Materials Scientists in EGYPT: (www.wits.ac.za).   El-Mallawany has awarded the following awards :

Recently, El-Mallawany is the author of :" Tellurite Glasses Handbook, Physical Properties and Data", publish by  CRC Press LLC, Florida , USA, ( 2001) as the first and only comprehensive  source of the physical properties of this unique material and suggests directions for future research, (www.crcpress.com, chemical engineering), catalog No. 0368, ISBN:0849303680, 500pp.
