Miriam almost defies description. There's no shortage of adjectives about her. She origianlly started at Auckland University doing a B.E. I think she did a year or two of that. Somehow, she ended up doing a B.Sc in Computer Science and Psych instead. She has been at A.U. for a significant amount of time.

Personality wise, she is both mischevious and caring. Interesting mix, certainly. Sometimes you look at her, and you know she's up to mischeif. That smile usually gives it away. Other times, you know that she really cares about people. (One occasion: sorting out a drunk on the side road. Who was vomiting, and otherwise alone.) She's also a good organiser, of a sort. And very outgoing. (She has this half mischievious smile. Sometimes quite dreamy looking.)

In her own words (although, not describing herself with them) she's a huggy person. :-) There is something about Girl Guide Leaders.. They seem to have a no-nonsense approach for sorting people out.

On the other hand, when you get out of line, she tells you. No nonsense, although with tact and descretion. Unless you really don't deserve it.

It's Miriam I have to thank, I think :-), for being dragged along to the bar. Once or twice. And she's one of the few women I've had the pleasure of being on the dancefloor with.

When this was written, she was at the famous Berkley University. Doing a course that originally was in Human-Computer interaction, but I think she has diversified and tried to fit in about half the computer science dept's offerings.

She's just generally a cool person. And someone who I feel richer for meeting.
