Saint Louis arch - a great subject for photography
Saint Louis arch
great shot of me and arch, taken by Ken
I hate looking at pictures of people, and hate inflicting them on anyone else, but in this case I'll make an exception. At Madison, Wisconsin we stopped at the headquarters of the Freedom From Religion Foundation, and had a nice chat with its founder, Dan Barker, who went from preacher to atheist activist, and wrote a book called Losing Faith In Faith. So here I am with him, in front of the headquarters, taken by Ken (I'm the one on the right)
And here I am with Ken, taken by Dan Barker. (Ken leads the local atheist group I'm in, by the way.) I usually don't smile well for pictures, but in this case, Dan Barker said, "Say JEEEEEZE-uz", and I said instead, "Imaginary savior!" (I'm the one on the left)
Minneapolis skyline, from the opposite shore of the Mississippi River.
Leaving Minneapolis later that day to go to Duluth, we passed over the bridge over the Mississippi River on Route I-35W. A week later, it collapsed, as most everyone saw in the news, killing 11 people.
The scenery around the western Great Lakes was rather boring. This was about as good as it got, from a cliff on the northern shore of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan / southern shore of Lake Superior, near the eastern end of the lake where it joins up with Lake Huron.
The Mackinac Bridge, linking the Upper and Lower Peninsulas of Michigan, over the strait that links Lake Michigan and Lake Huron. Ken took this.
A cliff overlooking a bend in the Delaware River near Port Jervis, NY, with the winding road going up into the distance, and loads of canoers and rafters on the river
Killbush Falls -- ummm, errr -- I mean Bushkill Falls, in the Delaware Water Gap area on the eastern edge of Pennsylvania. The highlight was that it cost $9 to get into the park, but I found a $10 bill in the parking lot.
Bridal Veil Falls, also in the Killbush -- ummm, errr -- I mean Bushkill Falls Park
Ribbon Falls, on the walk to the larger Dingman Falls, just to the north of Killbush -- ummm, errr -- I mean Bushkill Falls Park. Okay, enough pictures of waterfalls.
Me and Ken with our bikes, at the southern entrance to Skyline Drive - Shenandoah Park, taken by Ken's camera (I'm the one on the left)
Skyline Drive. There were a ton of similar pictures to take, all almost equally gorgeous. I was surprised what a magnificent mountain range the Appalachians are in places, especially the section in North Carolina, not much less magnificent than the Rockies.
More Skyline Drive, or maybe Blue Ridge Parkway - I'm no longer sure which

Me on the Tail of the Dragon, Route 129 in Tennessee, up to Deal's Gap on the North Carolina border. This is one of the most winding roads in the country, and a favorite with bikers. This and the next 2 pictures were taken by Killboy.com, a company that takes these pictures as souvenirs and sells them on the internet.

In Deal's Gap, at the end of the Tail of the Dragon, a tree with pieces of motorcycles that crashed
Me on the left, Ken on the right, and his friend, also named Ken, in the middle, who joined us just to do the Dragon. Taken by Ken's camera.
