| Title: Giant Robo Production: 7-Part OAV Genre: Drama/Action Description: This series has a retro style that sets it apart from the vast majority of anime being produced today. The story takes place in the near future and centers around two competing groups struggle for control of a perfect energy system. The story is rather complex, and just when you think you understand what is going on you find that your assumptions were wrong. Even the characters themselves are hard to pin down, as "good" characters seem less than noble and the so-called "evil" ones have honorable moments. The wide cast of characters, each having some unique power, are highly entertaining, yet they also have very realistic emotions. While the title may give viewers the impression that this is just another anime about robots smashing eachother, it must be viewed to be truly appreciated for the modern classic that it is. I have never seen a "world-domination" plot as well done and plausible as this. The soundtrack, which was performed by the Krakow Philharmonic Orchestra, provides a monumental atmosphere fitting to the subject.
