It was a cold evening, the air had that crisp tinge of electricity, i had
just sat down on more porch with an ice cold beer.
"Early retirement my ass.. this isn't what i was made for.. this ain't what i do, sitting around
idle getting old, fat, out of shape.. this isn't how it was supposed to
end. City cutbacks. Damn bureaucrats they feel the need for a hundred
plus meter-maids, paper pushers, and lazy good for nuthins, and turn
around and cut the fire department budget by a half. What the hell were
they thinkin'..."
Man was i pissed that night, if i knew then what i
know now... if i had known what was to happen in in a few hours... I...
well I probably would have got my family out of town or at least spent
some time with them instead of fuming on the porch...
But a Man has no time in his life for regrets.. it is the way...
One must not look back longingly on ages past, for this will change nothing...
One must work to make the best of every age for only then can wrongs be made right... |
