I woke up.
That's the first thing I remember.
Just waking up and smelling the city.
Smelling fear, fire, and death.
I didn't know where I was, or even my name.
I looked down and saw, gripped tightly in my hands, a fireaxe with the sobriquet
"Lord Quintus" intricately embroidered into the axe's leather handgrip.
I don't know whether that was my name, the weapon's name, or someone else's
entirely, but I didn't see anyone else using it, and I needed a name.
So now I'm Lord Quintus.
Mostly, though, I go by Quintus, or even just Quint.
I don't like using a title that I may or may not deserve.
When I first woke up, my hair was spiked up and of a bright blue color.
I don't know what color my hair is underneath that dye, but I'm guessing
it won't be too long before I find out. The only other clue I have to my
identity is a small tatoo on my left wrist that reads "Revenant" in an
intricate cursive script. That one word is why I've been afraid to take my
own pulse so far.
I'm afraid it won't be there.
But Hell, most of the time I don't even think about all that. Right now, I've got Zombies to kill. |
