Friday, July 17th 1999 ~ Anime Expo 99
Aka ~ Whaddya mean "Bust-a-Groove"?

We woke up that morning in high gear. Anime Expo was finally beginning!! We actually missed the opening ceremony, but after our buffet breakfast (Cafe Oasis no doubt) we waited online to sign up for the "Bust a Move 2" contest. Our idea was that it was the cute little puzzle game where two dinosaurs shoot little balls. ::Shakes head:: How sad we may seem to you.

Here we are waiting online outside the Game Room

Nonetheless we signed up and since we were early up online, there were playstations open to play with. Actually there was only one =P. The Evangelion game (which looked abso-frickin-lutely KICK ASS) was already being played, so we sat down at the Lords of Lunar set-up. I love Lunar. It is such a great game. I picked Tempest, Rags was "Drag Kyle" , Yuri was Nall, and Kelly was Mia. So there we were, seated at this multiplayer-pong type game. There were six controllers, but we were first there, so we just left 2 sitting there. Eventually 2 other people joined us. The last guy sounded pretty anxious playing the middle spot =Þ. That was alot of fun.

That us playing Lord of Lunar, and me laughing like a hyena

Afterwards we headed outside and waited online to get into the convention center across the street. God was it hot outside! I think I was melting on that sidewalk like a broken egg. People started recognizing us. I was happy =). All the work payed off! Of course we were not as noticable as other cosplayers, one being because we were pretty much dressed in normal clothes and the only striking and noticable thing about our group was my Kougan Anki. Two because Recca is relatively new and not that recognized as is. Hopefully now people will wonder what the hell we were sposed to be and end up seeing the series =). We have thus contributed to society!
Once inside, we totally lost it. I spent well over a hundred bucks in the Arena. So much merchandise .... . Check out My Crap page to see what I picked up ;). Lotsa fellow cosplayers shopping. It was very cool! Kougan Anki was kinda getting on my nerves while I was looking around though. Rag's mom ended up holding it alot of the time. Gomen, Rags' mom~!
After our spree at the Arena, we headed back inside the hotel. At that point we hung out at our room, being dumb as usual. While Kelly and Yuri were sleeping, Rags and I were abusing our UFO catchers ... poor Kenshin didn't have a mouth or any scars ... and Koganei's Kougan Anki was literally in peices. At some point we all fell asleep, and I woke up around 5:50. Realizing we had a Bust-a-Move game to get to, I started screaming "WAKE UP WAKE UP" and ran to the bathroom. I think we showed up at the game room with bed creases on our cheeks o_O. This was around the time when we realized that it wasn't in fact the bubble game, but the import of the DANCING game. ((sigh)), so anyway, Kelly forfeited, and I snuck Rags in to take my place. She lost ... but someone recognized her!! After that disaster, we checked out the Karaoke contest which was next door. That kicked ass! Two guys sang my fav RK theme, by SIAM SHADE. There were some other cool ones too, but damn, we shoulda entered that =0~! It was really fun. By the time we sat through a significant amount of entries, we were starving. We ate downstairs at the japanese food place, then called it a night. But not before we watched Chris Rock on tv. What a funny man =)
