Fragile Hearts
Part Four

Heero was almost dreading psychology class. He had contemplated cutting, but decided against it. It was only his second day in that class, and already he was ditching it? No. His second idea was to drop the class entirely, as he was planning to when he first got his schedule, but that would still be running away from a problem. Heero Yuy was no coward.
Then why? he thought to himself. Why does the thought of having to face Duo make you want to turn tail and run? Is it because you're afraid the others will laugh at you? Will call you names and make fun of you?
No, that wasn't it. Heero Yuy had never been concerned with what others thought of him.
Heero frowned to himself. Then why?
And suddenly he knew. It was Duo. He didn't want Duo laughing at him, telling him what a pervert he was. Or worse yet, he didn't want to be Duo's "side piece", someone he kept in the dark while he paraded around with his girlfriend in public.
Heero stopped walking and leaned his back against the walls of the hallway. That was it then. He actually cared about Duo. But how could that be? They had just met!
The bell rang, and Heero walked into the classroom silently, making his way to his seat.
Duo was already there, in the seat next to his, watching as Heero walked over. He smiled at Heero. Heero looked away from Duo's unfaltering gaze, sitting without a word and taking his books out.
Duo looked a little disappointed, but kept smiling anyway. "Oi, Heero ..." Duo whispered. Heero ignored him.
Duo felt hurt. What had happened? He thought everything went well yesterday. "Is something the matter Heero?" he asked, concern clearly in his voice.
Heero finally looked at him, though the look was completely hostile. Duo was searching Heero's blue eyes desperately. Heero turned to his left to see if Quatre was listening, but Quatre was busy talking to someone next to him. Heero turned away again, but not back to Duo. Duo waited until Heero whispered harshly, "You didn't tell me."
Duo didn't understand at first. Then it visibly dawned on him. He looked down at his hands. "I .. I'm sorry ... I thought you knew." Heero growled angrily, "Well, I didn't."
"Heero, I-" Duo began, but he soon realized this wasn't the time or place to discuss this. "Can we talk about this? After school?" he asked. Heero seemed to think about it for a moment, though he was still frowning. Duo discreetly put his hand over Heero's.
"Please?"
Heero looked at Duo again, and saw that Duo was serious. His violet eyes even seemed a little worried to Heero. He nodded. Duo smiled again, though weakly. He squeezed Heero's hand a little before letting it go. "Arigato, Heero," he whispered.
*************

Heero once again found himself letting Duo into his apartment. The trip over had been in near silence, but Duo would make an occasional, quiet comment on one thing or another. When they were both in the apartment, Heero locked the door, but stood there facing it.
Duo looked around nervously. "Ne, do you want me to help you unpack and everything?" he asked.
Heero turned around and said angrily, "I want you to explain things to me. Because right now, I really feel like killing you." Duo's smile faded from his face. "I can't."
"What?" Heero asked, glaring.
"I can't," Duo said, sadly. "I can't explain it. Why I like you. Or why I kissed you. Hell, I can't even explain why I'm going out with Relena. I just ... wanted ..."
"You wanted what, Duo? Tell me!" Heero demanded, stepping closer to Duo. Duo looked deeply into Heero's eyes, then slowly reached a hand towards Heero, wishing to touch him. "I wanted you .."
"No!" Heero yelled, grabbing Duo's wrist in a violent grip. "Don't touch me, Duo. I don't want you playing with me."
Duo slowly shook his head, but his eyes never left Heero's. "I'm not playing with you, Heero," he said softly. "I won't lie to you, either. My relationship with Relena, it ... it's not about love. I don't feel anything for her. But I do feel something for you."
Heero let go of Duo's wrist and moved away. Duo followed after him. "If you want me to leave her, I will," he said. Heero stopped and looked into Duo's eyes, wondering if the boy was lying to him. From the look he saw, Duo wasn't. "Please ... Heero ... onegai ... I know how bad this seems, and I know there's no reason for you to believe me, but ... if I could just ..." Duo said, looking away.
Heero put his hands on Duo's arms and forced the boy to look at him once more. He spoke gently this time, his cobalt eyes piercing into Duo.
"And if I said I believed you? What happens next? What is it you want, Duo?"
"I want to be with you," Duo said, his voice unwavering. Heero knew right then and there he was telling the truth.
All of Heero's doubts, his fears about Duo, his mixed feelings, and his own insecurities seemed to fly out the window at that moment. Heero moved forward and pressed his lips to Duo's, and he felt the boy nearly jump in surprise. But after that moment of surprise, Duo melted into Heero's arms. His hands went to ruffle through the tousled brown hair, and he pulled Heero's face closer, deepening the kiss.
Heero was nearly drowning in Duo's lips. He had never felt anything like this before, and the feelings rushing through him were overwhelming. When he felt Duo's tongue ran between his lips, he knew all rational thought was gone.
Duo broke the kiss suddenly, leaving the two boys breathing heavily for a moment. Then they locked gazes, and both were hit with a wave of desperation. Duo pulled Heero by the hand and led him into the bedroom, not once breaking the intense gaze.
When he hit the edge of the bed, Duo pulled Heero to him, their lips meeting again. The sudden jerk pulled Heero off balance, and the two ended up tumbling onto the bed, limbs entangled.
Their kisses became more heated, and both struggled to breath as they lost all sense of time and place. All they had was one another.
Hands slowly roamed, and Heero felt like a blind man, his fingers moving desperately over rough clothing to feel Duo's form. He pulled anxiously at Duo's shirt until it came untucked, and then his hands found their way underneath, seeking warm flesh. The feel of it only seemed to entice him more, and he sat up abruptly, pulling Duo up with him.
Duo smiled, then began trailing kisses over Heero's face, then down his neck. When he reached the collar of Heero's uniform, he slowly began to remove it, one button at a time, his lips kissing every new inch of revealed flesh. By the time the shirt was completely off, Heero's mind was reeling. He did the same to Duo, and the two took turns until every piece of clothing had been removed.
Heero felt a little self-conscious, completely bared to Duo, but Duo just smiled and pulled the boy closer to him. They kissed again, and slowly Heero seemed to forget his nakedness. His hands reached around Duo's back, gently caressing the silky skin. One hand encountered the braid tied there, and he slowly broke the kiss. "Duo ... can ...?"
Duo nodded, still smiling, and he pulled the braid over his shoulder. Heero watched transfixed as Duo began unraveling his braid, the chestnut locks flowing freely around him. Heero kissed Duo again, this time with more passion, as his hands plunged into Duo's velvety tresses.
Duo slowly pushed Heero down onto the bed, moving until he straddled the boy beneath him. Their skin burned where they touched, and Heero unconsciously moaned into Duo's mouth. Duo chuckled softly and kissed Heero's temple. Heero looked up at him, his cobalt eyes glassy in the dimming light. "Are you ready, Heero?" Duo asked carefully. Heero nodded, filled with desire for the boy above him.
Duo sat up, and his hand moved down the length of Heero's body. To Heero, it felt like a trail of fire, until finally, it ended in the aching spot between his legs. Heero moaned out loud as Duo's fingers wrapped painfully around him. Duo was fascinated by the reaction that came out of Heero, and he watched carefully as his hand began to move up and down Heero's length. Heero's cheeks flushed a near crimson, a tiny drop of sweat appearing above his brow. His eyes were closed tightly, as if in agony, and when Duo felt that Heero was close to the edge, he let go of Heero's member and bent to kiss the shut eyelids.
When the cobalt eyes fluttered open again, Duo smiled, kissed Heero's lips once more, then, before Heero could react, sat back and slowly pushed himself onto Heero's erection. Heero gasped, the sensation nearly driving him over the edge. But it still wasn't enough. Duo waited until Heero was ready once more, then began setting a rhythm, painfully slow at first, until Heero's hands gripped desperately onto Duo's hips.
Then, all sense of control that Duo had was lost. The pleasure seemed to roll over them in waves, and both could no longer think. Only feel. And all at once, the two boys felt like one person, with no beginning, and no end. And in that moment, everything came apart.
Duo felt Heero tense beneath him, his seed filling inside of him, just before he too came, warm liquid shooting onto Heero's tight abdomen. When the feelings began to subside, Duo fell onto the bed beside Heero, grasping desperately on to him. Heero wrapped his arms around Duo, and he knew then that he would *never* let Duo go. Not for anyone, no matter what people may say.
They laid there for hours, neither one saying a word. No words were needed. They just kissed each other, hands caressing the feverish skin, until Duo turned and saw the sun setting outside Heero's window.
He looked back at Heero, eyes full of hope. "Would you mind if I stayed here tonight?" he asked softly, whispering as if not to break the cherished silence.
"No," Heero said, pulling Duo's head to his chest. His fingers once again ran through Duo's silky hair, it's sweet smell filling his nostrils. "No," he repeated, his voice full of tenderness. "I don't mind at all."
