Books

Legends of a Land is a series of books about four countries and their heros. Each story has a list of major characters, a sample chapter, and artwork from the story.

The Countries

Setanth

Setanth is a patriarchal society that recently allowed women to rise in status among the high class, that the people are finding hard to accept. The people are fairly well all; their income comes from two sources, agriculture and trade. Though not a main part of their economy, the country is well known for their excellent breed of herding dogs, called the Setanth Herd Dog. Until recent years, they had very close ties with Meath and while now they still trade with the people, the atmosphere is strained at best, for Meath is harboring Setanth’s exiled Prince. The people themselves are pale skinned, men and older women (40+) wear their hair short, their fashion is flowery and expensive. Their main language is Euna.

Meath

An island north of Setanth, Meath is made up of two kinds of people. The first are the long white haired (the fashion is to wear their hair long and loose), copper skinned people who live in the same manner as those of Setanth though the rocky climate of the island gives to the raising of livestock rather then agriculture. They also have a vast, secret slave trade. One big difference is women always had the same power as men. They are known as Meaths and speak Meathen. The other people are generally olive skinned, black haired Saoirse people. They speak a mixture of Meathen and Euna, traveling around the island as family clans, never settling. They hunt and go on raids of Meath villages to get anything else that they need. They keep mostly to the coasts and to the mountains on the northern part of the island. The two cultures never interact, its strictly forbidden.

Hasamara

Hasamara is east of Setanth and Meath and while shares the continent with Setanth; they actually meet far in the south. In between the two country’s propers in the Bay of Miya. Hasamara is a desert country; most of its citizens live on the coasts. It too is a patriarchal society and continues to keep it, its women having no power at all, treated little better then servants. Its well known for its horse-trade, most of the country’s money coming from selling their stock. The people are black with varying hair colors; their main language is Logha. Beyond the main villages is the Wasteland, a huge desert no one has ever crossed. It’s said to be the home of a special breed of horse called Kaharaba, who are rumored to have magical powers.

Lios

Lios is far south of both Setanth and Hasamara though shares borders with them. Little is known about this country, they are very secretive and a huge forty-foot wall separates it from the rest of the world. The climate is said to be similar to Setanth though warmer. Its rumored though the people look like Setanthians, they can change into animals, both real and mythical.
