Name: Hino Rei Meaning: Spirit of the Flame D.O.B: April 17, 1977 Ruling Planet: Mars Favorite color (s): Red and Black Blood type: AB Hair: Black Eyes: Violet A fiery, passionate, easily irratated girl with big dreams, dreams of becoming a successful career woman to a famous rock star. But, behind that pretty face, is she as self absored and arrogant as she appears to be? Rei is a Shinton priestess with an amazing psycic gift to detect evil presences and other unnatural happenings. Even before she was a senshi, Rei had the ability to control and read fire and rid evil spirits with her ancient fire scrolls. She lives at Hikawa Jinja with her grandfather who looks after her. Rei's father is an important politician and her mother died when she was younger. In the anime, her family life is barely shown but in the manga it's portrayed that Rei blames her father for her mother's passing because he was so invloved with his work he never had time for his family. Also in the manga, Rei is shown to be more sophisticated and dislikes all men, however, in the anime she appears to be more arrogant and ill tempered. Before Rei met Usagi she was very lonely, even though she appeared to be very popular at her school. Her fellow classmates shunned Rei because of her psycic gifts, taunting her with cruel names. And so after the battle with Jadite's second youma attack and after Rei was revieled as Sailor Mars, Usagi became Rei's first real friend. When she's not out shopping or hanging with the other senshi, Rei usually keeps to herself, working around the temple or reading fire for any disturbences that might be an enemy.
