Shuten is the leader of the four Warlords and is also the youngest. Emperor Arago seemed to favor Shuten over the other Warlords, which probably explains why they don't like Shuten very much. Shuten, while under Arago's influence, was the most powerhungry and egotistical. With his firey temper and herculeon strength, Shuten was the hardest Warlord to overcome.
Later on, it became harder for Shuten to defeat the Ronins; he preferred a fair fight rather than killing them off completely and also began to question Arago's commands.
Arago took this as an act of insubordination and felt that Shuten's heart was no longer with the Dynasty. Not wanting to lose the armor, Arago had evil spirits brainwash Shuten into being evil again. Shuten went mad with power and, was once, again sent to defeat the Ronins.
Now, Shuten seemed unbeatable but the Ronins found a way to bring him down. After Shutens defeat, Arago proceeded to bring him back till the Ancient stepped in. He took Shuten from Arago's grasp. The Ancient then explained what Arago really valued of Shuten; his armor. He told Shuten that he had the power to follow his own path and whatever master he chose.
Afterwards, the battle with Arago intensified, but Shuten was now on the Ronins' side.
Arago could not defeat the Ronins with out the Warlords' armors; he called for Anubisu's, Naaza's, and Rajura's armors but had to take Shutne's by force. After Ryo defeated Arago, the Dynasty and Shuten disappearred.
When the Dynasty reappearred, Shuten returned as the new Ancient after the former one had died. He brought news of Lady Kayura and Arago and proclaimed that he now fought to protect the mortal realm.
Once again, the battle with Arago and the Dynasty intensified.
Shuten realized that Kayura was apart of the Ancient's clan and that she must be saved from Arago's power. Arago had his demon priest, Badamon, possess Kayura inorder to retrieve the nine armors of the Ronins and Warlords. To save Kayura, Badamon had to be driven from her body. Shuten tried everything he could but the only way to drive out Badamon was to pass his armor to Kayura. Badamon was finally driven out but Shuten had paid the ultimate price. Since one lives for the armor(not vice versa), Shuten died when he passed his to Kayura. |
