Known as Ember by the citizens of Paragon city, Jeremy Gray has the life many dream of. He is a hero. On June 23rd, 1979, in the sleepy Missouri town of Frankford, Jeremy Gray was born. At birth, he was declared to be completely normal, but as time went on, his parents would discover the truth behind their son. Unknown to his parents, Jeremy was a mutant. From birth defects not quite understood by modern science, Jeremy was granted amazing abilities that would not show themselves until around puberty. In the beginning of his life, Jeremy was just another child. There was only one thing that made Jeremy stand out. He had an intense interest in fire. He frequently stole books of matches from his parents and played with them, not realizing the dangerous effects of flame. When Jeremy began his teen years, he noticed that his tolerance for heat was increasing. He would experiment with his tolerances almost daily, performing feats such as placing his hand in stove burners, or holding lit candles up to his hand, suffering no burns whatsoever. His powers finally began to show their true levels of intensity when Jeremy turned 15. During this time, he began what is known to mutants as the awakening period. The awakening period is a result of the individual’s body producing hormones related to puberty. These, in turn, create massive and possibly violent outbursts of power. The awakening period is when many mutants discover their powers for the first time. Jeremy was at times often frightened by his abilities, and tried to keep them hidden. This was tough, however, as the outbursts were frequent and intense. During this time, he also discovered abilities flight, which he could not yet control. Jeremy’s parents, seeing that he was not a normal child, took him to numerous pediatricians and specialists for his abilities. All of them told Jeremy and his parents the same thing. There was nothing they could do for Jeremy, and he would most likely have these abilities for the rest of his life. Jeremy, now 16, began to experiment with his powers and learned to harness them to an extent, but not at the level of a true superhero. He was very eager to become what he called a "big time" superhero. He wanted to go to Paragon and fight crime like the famous superheroes. That was his dream. Eventually, he got his chance. On a hot day in May, Jeremy witnessed a group of robbers in the middle of a bank siege. Jeremy knew that this was his chance to shine. He managed to disarm 4 of the robbers and tie them up. He did not notice one of the thugs still gathering money in the safe, and before he could notice him, the thug took aim and fired a handgun at Jeremy. To his surprise (And Jeremy's, for that matter) he found that the bullet simply bounced off of him. Jeremy had just discovered another power. He was invulnerable to even the strongest of physical blows. Charred, but otherwise fine, the 5 robbers were thrown one-by-one out of the bank. Jeremy became an overnight celebrity in his hometown of Frankford. His face was known all over the city. He practiced the "art" of being a superhero under the name of Fahrenheit. This was his beginning as a crime fighter. It was during this time of stopping bank robberies and helping elderly citizens across the street that he learned the biggest factor in any superhero: Respect for all. Over the next few years, he grew to be righteous, more powerful, and even bit cocky. After graduating from High School, he applied for South Summit college in Robinson, Texas, and got in with flying colors. Sad to see him leave, the city Frankford threw a celebration in his honor before leaving, and awarded him with a key to the city. That August, he traveled all the way to Robinson, Texas for the upcoming school year. While attending college, his dorm mate happened to be another mutant named Kevin Freese. Kevin had the ability to freeze things by touch. Together, they formed a strong friendship. The two of them tackled crime around Robinson, both having aspirations (and experience nonetheless) to become superheroes. It was around this time that he decided to change his appearance and his superhero name. Occasionally, while rounding up the latest batch of criminals around Robinson, Kevin and even the criminals had a hard time keeping a straight face, due to Jeremy's corny crime-fighting attitude and costume. Jeremy eventually found that his costume was "unfashionable" at the least.
Jeremy easily passed all 4 years of his college education. Immediately after graduating from college, both of them decided to go to Paragon City to become "big-time" superheroes. They also formed the 10th Moon Alliance, an organization devoted to ending crime once and for all. Jeremy’s adventure began as he stepped off the bus into Paragon at the age of 24, and as a young superhero, he had potential......
