I looked out my front window and was quite surprised. It was the middle of the day and three bears were walking onto my yard. I ran and grabbed the camera and waited for them to appear in the back yard. The mom then two cubs walked quickly across the yard and left out the hole in the back fence.
Quick snapshots of them moving. They were not quite running, but were in a hurry.

Turns out they were being chased by people taking pictures of them

In some pictures she doesnt look so big - and she is nothing compared to a grizzly bear. But I dont want to run into her again.

First cub

This was my third encounter with this three-some in the last three months

About 2-3 months ago, I ran into them on a hike about a mile from my home, at the edge of Pike National Forest.

3 weeks ago, these 3 were up in my tree at night - right next to the front door. I had been walking below them multiple times that night. I got to see the mom (and cubs) through the window, about 6 feet away, when they climbed down the tree.

Adult Female Black Bear can be 100-400 pounds. Just a wild guess - I'd say this mother was about 200 pounds.
