Why Harry Chapin's music has always been so important to me:
I have been a Harry Chapin fan for 32 yrs. I was all of 14 when I first heard "Taxi" on WRKO (AM) radio. I bought "Heads & Tales" soon after that and I have been "HOOKED" ever since.
I am not sure how else to say it, other than I had what one would call a less than desireable childhood. Harry's music was my source of comfort when I was down, my determination to escape from the hell I lived in and my inspiration to rise above it all and to make a better life for myself.
I was never fortunate enough to be able to say that I ever met Harry or that I ever saw him perform live before his un-timely death on that fateful day of July 16, 1981.
Over the years I have only become more and more dedicated to his music and all that he stood for.
