I have this episode--the whole week, actually--on tape. The subject is
"THINGS THAT BREAK OUT," and Cavett said, "Escaping prisoners." He
      immediately got the buzzer.

Later that week, Cavett got buzzed again and disputed the call. He got
so into it that he actually started to pull Mary Ann Henderson (the
woman who relayed the judge's comments to Dick Clark) out from behind
the scenery. Teresa Ganzel, Cavett's opponent for the week, said, "I'm
      being thoroughly entertained this week!"

It seems like every time Cavett was on, he tried to sneak something by
the judge. He was a sneak, but he was also a very good game player.

I don't think Teresa Ganzel's ever done an Animaniacs. My vote goes to
      Tress.

Shelley Smith was a professional game show celebrity if ever there was one. Her only claim to fame was a failed sitcom in 79-80, and she milked that for nearly 15 years of "celebrityhood". Teresa Ganzel was another. Most shows would invite sitcom second-bananas while their shows were on, then drop them after their shows disappeared... but the Pyramid was fond of keeping them. If the celebrity was a good player, they became a member of "the club", and would keep coming back... even if no one remembered what made them a "celebrity" in the first place!

It's Teresa Ganzel (sp?), who also appeared in the Tea Time Movie skits
on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, as an extremely dumb blonde. She
took over the gig after Carol Wayne died.
I totally forgot about Duck Factory, especially that Jim Carrey was in it.

That sounds about right, though I thought Terri Garr doubled in the job as well. When watching Carson, if either of them were mentioned as guests on the show that meant that either the 'Tea Time Movie' or the 'Home Shoppping Club' would skit would be on.

I'm sure that's largely true, given that _The Duck Factory_ was created by
Allan Burns, a former Jay Ward writer who went on to co-create _The
Munsters_ and _The Mary Tyler Moore Show_, among other sitcom classics.
