Our featured artist for November/December is Susan from "Grandmas Attic Graphics".
1. How did you come up with the business name?
I came up with my busniess name Grandmas Attic because as a child
I was always fasinated going up in our attic and snooping around
through all of the old photos, cloths and furniture that my Mother
had stored up there. Then when I became a Grandma and my Grandson
came up in the attic with me, I saw that same spark in his eyes, like
he just found a treasure.
2. Describe your business?
My business is designing and drawing personal home page graphics with
a touch of country and whatever else comes into my imagination.
3. How long have you been in business?
I've been in business since 2005.
4. Where do you get your motivation?
My motivation comes from all sorts of places, some from childhood
memories, some from places I've lived and alot of times just trial and
error doodling around in Paint Shop Pro.
5. What is your favorite thing to make?
Why?
My favorite things to draw are houses. I love the big old Victorians
and the Country Cottages. I especially like to do the unexpected tiny
graphics that decorate the windows and doors. Then I also enjoy making
the little dolls that match up with them.
6. What advise would you give others who are thinking about starting a business?
The advise I would give to anyone who was thinking about starting a
business would definitely be to try it. There is alot of satisfaction in
seeing other people enjoying the things you make and how they can
personalize them by how they make their layouts and the graphics they
choose from the sets, to make them their own.
Thank you so much Susan for taking time to share your advice with us.
