Jet Black, lover of bonsai and feng-shui, retired police officer, is the sane "keeper of peace" among the group of flighty head-cases.
He's rough, protects his past, hating to reveal anything beyond necessary to even his partner, Spike.
Now a bounty hunter, Jet is often maltreated, and his wished ignored for more risque plans, but takes it like a man and often acts as mission control for Spike and Faye.
Like a mother to the group, he cooks, cleans, and takes care of the other occupants of the Bebop.
He and Spike, though partners, keep their pasts totally hidden leading to some seperation between the two- but both respect the other's silence, though Jet does get frustrated sometimes.
As with Faye, she's a walking argument.
Jet Black's heart goes to a young Lolita daughter of a past friend, and his attention goes to Ein, as if he was the son he never had.
