The mysterious Folken Fanel, black-winged, former High Prince of Fanelia, destined to become King. He was always a kind, attentive, brother, but disappointed Van more than he could ever know. Van always had great faith in his brother, but it wavered after Folken failed to return from the dragon-slaying. When Folken was sent out to do his task in order to become King, there was a horrible accident. Just as h believed that the dragon had died, it lashed out against him, taking his arm, and almost his life. He was saved by the Zaibach, and his arm was remade- a cruel metal claw-like hand. Though Folken cared for his brother, he joined the Zaibach, denouncing his role as King, he also tried time and time again to get Van into Zaibach also. Though he was part of the enemy, he did think of the welfare of his brother, seeing the kind, thoughtful little boy he had once known being forced to grow up and become a hardened warrior. He remembered back to when Van hated to hurt innocent things, saw the dragon-slaying as a cruel ritual. Each time Folken tried to persuade his brother to join him, he refused, even though he did refuse, Folken still looked over his brother, despite Van's apparent hatred. In the end, Folken quit the Zaibach and instead joined his brother, but still his trust was not earned. He and Hitomi came together for one last assault on Zaibach, and Van's trust was paid for with Folken's life. Folken was the one who trained Nariya and Eriya, and both adore him. The twin luck warriors do his every bidding, and call him "Master."
